Aha!NOW - the self-development blog How To Make A YouTube Video Easily by Angela McCall [ Video Transcript ] 00:00:00 Hello everyone this is Angela from AngelaMcCall.com. Today, I'd like to talk about "How to Create a Simple YouTube Video". But before I go on, I'd like to thank Harleena for asking me to be a Guest Poster on her blog. I really appreciate it and I'm really very honored that you have asked me. Anyway, in my video I will cover "How to Make a Simple YouTube Video". 00:00:32 Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I have been doing videos on iMovie ever since I was in college back in the late 1980's. And it is the only application I know how to make a movie and then later on I graduated from iMovie to Final Cut Pro, which is mainly an application for Mac user. I have a macintosh. I know that a lot of people don't have macintosh and some people use PC and that's okay, they use MovieMaker for making movies. Nowadays, every single mobile device such as iPhone, smartphone, camcorder…you can make your own video. A very simple video of yourself. And you don't need a professional microphone because many of these devices have very good microphone. So on this tutorial video I'm going to cover "How to Make a Simple YouTube Video" on iMovie. 00:01:52 Today we're going to talk about "How to Make a Simple YouTube Video". But before we start, YouTube came a long way. Five, ten years, ago…you can create a YouTube channel without having a Google Gmail. But I think they made this thing much more complicated now than it was before. So first you have to have a Google+ account; which I'm showing you right now. I have this Google+ account but before you can have that, you have to create an account on Gmail. You have to create an email on Gmail.com. I'm not going to show you how to do that because this is about "How to Make a YouTube Account". Like I said, you have to have a Google+ and in order to have a Google+ you have to have Gmail. When you create your Gmail, automatically you have a Google+. Then from there you have also a YouTube channel automatically. 00:03:14 But say you don't have it and you want to create another account or another YouTube account, from your Google+ click your photo and then it'll show here "add an account". So I'm going to go ahead and click "Add account" and it'll ask me how to get in there but I've already sign in, so I'm not even going to go through that process, so I'll just go ahead and "Create an account". 00:03:54 And from here, it'll give you a form where you have to fill up your Name and Last Name. So let's go ahead and enter my Name and Last Name. And I want to call this "aamccalltv" and enter your password. It's telling me this…somebody already has that username because I already did create it this before I show you this video. 00:04:29 So anyways, you put your birthday and the year, and your gender, and then you can either put your mobile phone right here. And then your current email address. And then enter the captcha - 85585636. And Next Step. Check on "I agree…" and then Next Step. Just click on it and it will give you a page like this. And you can add a photo…so go ahead and add a photo from my pictures. So now that I selected my photo, Next Step. It says "Welcome, Angela" and I do have my photo on there. 00:06:16 So now after you uploaded your photo on your new added Google+ account, it shows you this page. By the way, I changed my photo because I'd like to have different photos on each of my account so I can tell which is which. So now this is the aamccalltv@gmail.com. So if I go down here on my videos, it says "Upload new videos" so it means it created a channel for me and here on my YouTube it says "Use YouTube as Angela McCall" so I'm going to go ahead and okay that. So here I am in my new channel and it says here "Add channel art" and there goes my photo. I can click "Add channel art" and select a photo from my computer or go to gallery. 00:07:42 So now that you created your YouTube channel, you can now upload a video. But before you do that let me show you how you can customize your URL. Up here is the URL that YouTube gave you. And that is very hard to remember. All kinds of characters and I don't think I'll remember that. So I would like to customize that. 00:08:08 So now you want to customize your YouTube URL into something a lot simpler and something you can remember. So what you want to do is, click this wheel, go to YouTube settings. Besides your photo icon click "Advanced" and then "Create custom URL". Now remember, once you change your channel URL, you cannot go back. So make sure you know exactly what you want to put in there. So now I'm going to go ahead and enter "aamccalltv". Click "Create Channel URL". 00:09:20 And it says, "You have created a custom channel URL. Your new channel URL is dot…dot…dot…aamccalltv. So it's successful. Let's check that on my channel. And it says there, aamccalltv. So now it's easier for you to remember, to tell your friends to subscribe to your channel, instead of having weird characters that's about a million miles long and you can't remember it. 00:10:00 As you can see I have my laptop set up here for video taping. As you can see I put books underneath my laptop. Just to make sure that when I'm doing a video of myself, make sure that the camera is on your eye level. On the side here you can see my lamp, it's a regular desk lamp. And on my side is just a regular lamp that we use at home. On this one it's a floor lamp that I use on the side here. And as you can see it's just a simple set up. There's nothing expensive. 00:11:01 You can see that my desk is close to my bed. Just to make sure your bed is nice and decent. So just in case it falls into your background it looks okay. So, you can see this is my bedroom. And there is nothing fancy here while I'm doing my video. And like I said, just to make sure when you're doing your video, put books underneath your laptop so your eye is level to the camera. 00:11:56 Taking a video of myself here. And this is really good because it has a great microphone and the resolution is really very good. When I'm taking a video of myself, I have this lamp…you can see right there…aims on my face. So this way I can have a better picture on my video. 00:12:27 When you create a video of yourself, make sure you have 2 inches above your head. Do not chop your head. I think it looks a lot better if you have a little space above your head. Notice on this video over here I don't really have enough space above my head and it looks like my head is chopped. So even if I go to the cropping rotation, it's already been chopped. So I can't do much on this. While over here on this other one, if I go on my cropping, I can adjust this and make this an HD, a better wider screen on my video. And I still have the space and I can adjust that to the bigger, bigger screen. But if I wanted to "fit" on my screen, I want it all, everything on there, I can adjust that too. 00:13:55 How to upload your video is, go to your main YouTube channel. Click Upload. Click on this red arrow. And whatever you want to upload, Select and then Open. And you can see it's beginning to get uploaded on your channel. Put a Title. Your title here. Put a short Description. And then put a Tag. Remember your Tag is also the same as your Keywords on YouTube, so people can find you. And then once it's finish processing, you can click Publish. And that's how you do it. 00:15:13 So how do you make transitions and cool effects on iMovie? I can show you how to do this. Here I have recorded a song and notice on my video there is no cut, it's completely continuous. So how do I put transitions in between segment? So what I'll do is…perhaps every sixth or seventh frame, I will insert a transition. 00:15:58 So the music starts here (music playing). 00:16:16 So if I want to insert a transition after I said "Crazy" I will cut here. And insert a transition (music playing). After "feeling so lonely" I would like to insert another transition, so let's cut the frame. Let's play it again and see what happens (music playing). So we have transition here and here. So if you like to put more transitions in your video, you can put varieties. They have a whole bunch down here like the Page Curl, Circle Open, Spin Out…you can put different kinds if you'd like. 00:18:10 One of the best movies I've ever done in iMovie is this project called "The Orbs on My Photograph". I was going to put music on here but YouTube always gives me trouble on copyright songs. So I decided to put sound effects instead. I found out that I have these sound effects that's free included on iMovie so I decided to use it. 00:18:44 Let me show what I meant (movie playing). 00:19:08 So you can see it sounds real cool and it match my photos. It looks kind of scary and I wanted to have that kind of effect on my photo. So let me show you how I did it. First, let's create a new project. And give it a Title. Let's choose the Introduction. Create. Go to my photo. Select all. Drag it. 00:20:16 And now you could see I have an Introduction here. And it also gave me an automatic Ending. It says directed by Angela McCall. If I just want to put music, and no sound effects, I can show you. Go to my music. Go to my free copyrights. And let's play some music and see (music playing). I can drag my music if I want it to play in all of my photos, I will put it on the background like this (movie playing). So now you can see how I did it. But say I don't like that background, delete it. Put different Sound Effects on there. I'll go to my free Sound Effects. And I've got all my suspense music. And let's play it (movie playing). Then you can add some Titles on your video. And you can change the Duration on this. Let's put it to 4. Let's play it again (movie playing). And so you can see that your video is a little bit more exciting and not too boring. And so you put Sound Effects and make it sound and looks better. So that's how you do it. 00:23:55 So now that you have an idea how to create a video, the last thing I'd like to cover is Make-up. Make-up helps you, or gives you a better, smoother face. If you're going to wear Make-up, make sure you double your eyeshadow, you double your lipstick, you double your liquid foundation, so this way you're cover up. Make-up helps you look better in front of the camera. I don't really wear a lot of Make-up, I don't wear eyeshadow or lipstick, but I do wear liquid foundation and powder. And the liquid foundation helps you look better. Your face looks smoother in front of the camera. If you're going to wear Make-up, make sure your eyeshadow is double, your lipstick is double, your liquid foundation is double, or your powder is double, because the camera will not be able to see how thick your Make-up is. But if you wear something double, it make sure your face would look a lot better in front of the video. So I hope you learn something from this tutorial video. And if you have any question, leave me comments. And don't hesitate to ask me questions if you have any. Okay. So I think that's it and I hope you have a nice day. And I'll see you later.
