Being a woman is wonderful. But how to be the perfect woman? If you think of this question, you’ll find the answer in this post. A woman is full of inherent qualities and potential. She has all the resources and it all depends on how you make use of it. You can become the perfect woman or the worst. The choice is yours. Here are the best steps to help you make the best choices and take actions that will make you shine as a perfect person and spread happiness within and around you. ~ Ed.

This post is for all the women in the world because you’re beautiful and wonderful! Now, it’s time that you become the perfect woman.

Before we move forward, I want to ask – how do you picture a perfect woman?

No, I’m not talking about having the perfect face or body. There’s more to a woman than that, and I hope you’ll agree.

A perfect woman is difficult to find, as the definition of the perfect woman differs in various cultures, societies and places.

However, we can agree on some common criteria and values that would define the most adorable and complete, or the real woman within us. I believe that every woman can be a perfect woman if she wants to!

An instant question might arise in your mind – who wants to be a perfect woman, and why? Why can’t I just be my ownself?

While I’d love to know your views on this issue, I’d let you know what I think.

To me, being a perfect woman is all about evolving yourself as a person. In other words, trying to become better. It’s about improving our personality and total wellness. It’s about trying to do good and put in your best in what you do.

Since I’m playing the role of a woman in this life, I’d better play it well and strive to be a perfect woman. Fair enough, don’t you think so?

I hope this post gives you some food for thought, or some aid for action, and would help you bring out the perfect woman within you.

How to become a Perfect Woman?

Let me reiterate that there is nothing perfect in this world, and we cannot become perfect women or men either.

However, we can do our best to improve ourselves and explore the real woman within us with conscious efforts, tested methods, and proven simple ways. This would help us become something close to a perfect woman.

“A perfect woman, nobly planned, to warn, to comfort, and command; and yet a spirit still, and bright with something of angelic light.” ~ William Wordsworth

Who is a perfect woman?

What defines you as a perfect woman? Is it your marriage, children, family, success, achievements, passion, or wealth?

The woman within you knows that these questions need much thought, so let’s begin by understanding what a woman is after all!

A woman is a beautiful, marvelous creature, often mysterious, interesting, and unusual! She has a strong character and personality, is consistent, has a variety of interests outside and within her family and home, and has more to her than meets the eye!

The perfect woman has a purpose and meaning to her life, and she possesses a depth of personality and character, and is interesting to get to know.

She conducts herself with patience, honesty, integrity, and lives life with passion, love, intention, peacefulness, and steadfastness.

A perfect woman has qualities that make others notice that she is not shallow!

“The strength of a woman can carry the weight of the world.” ~ Sarah Pezdek-Smith

11 Steps to be the Perfect Woman

Are you the perfect woman you always wanted to be? Do you have what it takes to bring out the real woman within you? Do you know the ways you can use to transform yourself into a perfect woman?

This post finds the answers to these questions, and reveals how to be the perfect woman, and be a happy woman that you deserve to be.

Look After Yourself

A perfect woman is fit and healthy. So, maintain your health and fitness by having a well nourished balanced diet, and take care to exercise on a regular basis. Not to forget to drink at least eight glasses of water a day!

You could try walking, or going to the gym, or any kind of game or sport to remain fit and active. Remember, an active body leads to an active mind and nurtures the real woman within you!

If you look good, you’ll feel good, and vice-versa. So, if your hair are curly or wavy and you think straight hair makes you look beautiful, then get a keratin treatment for smoothing and straightening your hair and protect it against any damage.

A woman has to feel good about her, and one of the things that you can do is to dress in something nice and look attractive with a little bit of makeup; after-all looks do matter! It sure boosts the confidence of the best of women!

And yes, hygiene counts a great deal, so don’t forget to shower daily and wash your hair on a regular basis. Use a light deodorant or perfume as well.

Skincare is equally important and you’ve to chose the best methods for it. These days, there is no dearth of products to take care of your skin. Do you want to get rid of the dark circles under the eye or you want to know how to get rid of your freckles? There’s literally a product option that fits practically any budget for every skin issue.

If you would rather spend a little extra, a pumpkin cleanser will remove unwanted residue and bring cleansing hydration. Go ahead and pamper yourself with luxury self care.

Though these are not things to list out as I’m sure most of us take care of our hygiene, but as I was listing out the points to be a perfect woman, I mentioned it here.

Get Rid of Bad Habits

A perfect woman has self-control. You need to get rid of bad habits to strengthen the real woman within you. And, you can do this by quitting smoking and drinking, or doing it in moderation.

Besides, no man would like their perfect woman to get drunk, nor would they like their woman to smoke excessively. Even if you don’t really care about what men like or want, you surely do need to think about your own health.

Quit all other bad habits like watching excessive television, being an Internet addict, using too much of  cell phone, and other such things that stop you from achieving the mental and physical state of a perfect woman.

Don’t be Rude or Nasty

A perfect woman is emotionally well developed. To nurture the real woman within you, try not be rude or nasty- as people like to see a woman as a sensitive, caring, tender, and loving person.

Isn’t that her true nature? In the changing modern values, some might’ve different views, but being a woman myself, I make sure the woman within me is loving and kind hearted, and I treat other women and men likewise.

Avoid Being Too Materialistic

A perfect woman is a woman of substance. This doesn’t mean that a perfect woman has to be materialistic – in fact, a perfect woman is never materialistic and doesn’t speak too much of money or other related things.

Yes, money is important, but speaking about it all the time will only make you more materialistic, greedy, mean, and money oriented.

A perfect woman has a strong character, and virtues are her best appeal.

Be Ready to Change

A perfect woman is always learning something new. To unveil the real woman within you and help become a perfect woman, always be ready to change. Accept and adjust to life and whatever changes it brings forth.

Any kind of change that is for the better is worth going in for. Remember, as a woman, you have a larger responsibility and role that consists of your family, kids, and your home.

Personality Counts

A perfect woman has a good personality. The personality of a perfect woman would outshine everything else. You may have the prettiest face in the world, but if you are unpleasant or remain moody, you are far from perfect!

To develop the real woman within you in order to become the perfect woman, build up your confidence by getting involved in positive things and activities. Learn to control your temper, mood swings, and try to be friendly and as welcoming as possible.

Yes, we all do have our down moments, but a perfect woman will have the personality to carry off all the flaws with grace, and turn them to her benefit.

So, to become the perfect woman, keep your stomach in, chin slightly tilted, shoulders back, and carry a positive attitude all the time with a smile on your face!

Use Positive Affirmations

A perfect woman believes in herself. She would always use positive affirmations, even if she is faced with negative people or thoughts around her. That is what brings out the real woman within her.

If you’ve doubts about yourself that you are not a perfect woman, then try something out like looking yourself in the mirror and no matter how you look, tell yourself that ‘I am beautiful’, and do it every day! It is an instant booster!

No matter what, believe in yourself and your capabilities, and the world will change for you!

Fear Nothing

A perfect woman is fearless. Tough to do, but a perfect woman is the one who would take the bulls by the horns!

Being a woman you may fear certain problems that come in your life, but you need not fear, instead stand tall and fight it out in such situations.

Be ready to equip yourself with qualities, abilities, tools, techniques, or whatever it takes to counter the problems you face.

Instead of worrying about things, find out the root cause of the problem, and take steps to overcome them. The woman within you is stronger than you imagine, and you can become the perfect woman that fears nothing!

Learn to Take Compliments and Things in Your Stride

A perfect woman is always positive. She will always take everything that comes her way, in her stride. The woman within you will know how to take a compliment, without compromising your self-worth and self-respect.

There would be people passing comments at you that you may not like. They may say things like ‘You sure look good’ or ‘Hello beautiful’, or just about anything that actually compliments you, but you don’t like hearing it from strangers. Yes, you have an option to strike back, but that would just leave you being like them!

Instead, accept the fact that yes, you do look good! You have beautiful hair, your eyes are beautiful, your skin glows, your hands are well manicured. So, take it as a compliment, say thank you and move on!

As a woman you know you don’t have to stay there and converse with people who passed such remarks, nor do you have to blush. Simply accept that you are a nice piece of art or creation, smile, and walk away feeling that you are a perfect woman!

Appreciate Yourself

A perfect woman appreciates herself. She never forgets to appreciate herself or others, and values the efforts she puts into her work and family. The woman within you knows that without you there is no him, no family, and no kids.

The perfect woman is someone who deserves respect and admiration for everything that she does. And not to mention the wonder women who juggle between work and their homes, as well as manage their family and kids.

Value Your Family

A perfect woman is a family person. The most important aspect to bring out the real woman within you and become a perfect woman is to value and look after your family.

Managing my kids, home, and working alongside is something I have learnt to do, being a full time freelance writer. And for me, family always comes first, no matter what the circumstances.

A perfect woman cares about building a strong bond with her husband if she is married, and doesn’t quit when things get rough.

The woman within you knows that you are also an anchor, and your kids mean the world to you. They respect you for your love, firmness, and kindness.

The perfect woman would always be there for her kids and family, and tries to spend maximum time with them, be there for her children, their school, and their extracurricular activities.

Wrapping Up

I could carry on forever about how to be the perfect woman, but I’ve to stop myself. I’ll end with a collection of qualities and actions that can make you one of the best persons and a perfect woman.

  • Be happy with what and who you are, and be aware of what you want in life.
  • Always remain sincere and natural to yourself and others around you.
  • Build your self-esteem, inner power and strength, and do whatever it takes to reveal that real woman within you.
  • Take out time for your family, friends, and near and dear ones.
  • Be understanding, open-minded, aware of your morals and values, and stand up to them.
  • Learn to forgive yourself and others, and never discriminate.
  • Learn to be a good listener, and a good conversationalist.
  • Remain calm, humble, presentable, and relaxed in everything you do.
  • Know your limitations and boundaries, and never impose pressure.

A perfect woman is also a woman with great power that energizes the perfect woman within her. She is a woman of meaning and positive influence.

“We never know how high we are till we are called to rise; And then, if we are true to plan, our statures touch the skies.” ~ Emily Dickinson.

So far I have come across one such perfect woman – my mother, who was a true woman of substance. She was strong in character, values, morals, principal, and was humble, loving, spiritual, and lovely. She had the most beautiful personality, and I have always admired and wished to become like her.

So, wonderful women – cherish every single day of your life, by believing in yourself, and feeling happy for what and who you are. Marvel at your achievements, no matter how small or big, and feel proud of them!

Am I a perfect woman? I wouldn’t say perfect yet, but I do make my efforts to improve and change for the better, and I know that perfection would just happen. If I’m able to make my own life and the lives of others happy and peaceful; I wouldn’t hesitate to crown myself as a perfect woman!

Don’t try to look like a perfect woman; be a perfect woman!

“I am a woman in process. I’m just trying like everybody else. I try to take every conflict, every experience, and learn from it. Life is never dull.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

Yes indeed, you hit the nail on the head! No one is perfect and that remains a fact, but yes, we can always try to reach perfection by working towards it- by putting in our best, in whatever possible ways 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  8. Yes indeed, no one can really measure up the strength of a women- and sometimes even she may not know how much of strength she holds 🙂

    Thanks 🙂

      1. Your wife is absolutely right there David!

Women have been known to possess much more will power and inner-strength than men. And they can bear a great deal as well!

        Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  9. Hi Harleena,

Nice words about a women. The strength of a women can carry the weight of the world. You put across nice tips and ques about how to nurture the perfect woman within.

    1. Welcome to the blog Prakash!

Glad you liked the words about being a women. Yes indeed, the strength of a women can carry the weight of the world- I guess there is much more to a woman than meets the eye!

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  10. This is awesome!!

I absolute love number five! I have to admit, as much as I try not to, I still struggle with number nine. All of these are some very great ways of getting that ‘perfect’ woman that is within each of us to shine through I love it!!

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Welcome to the blog Makeba!

Glad you could resonate with the post! Ah…yes ready to change is often something most people aren’t willing or ready to do, though if you are adaptable to change and accept it willingly, you are a much happier person.

Taking compliments in your stride and remaining positive in whatever the circumstances does take a lot of courage and will power. I too have a problem with number nine, though am learning to overcome it 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  11. Hey Harleena,

I don’t wear makeup and I do try to look after myself physically and mentally – but what I think makes me the perfect woman is being able to recognize the woman I am without a mask or pretending to be someone I am not, and appreciate more than just the reflection I give off to the world – including my inner-self.

I spent so many years worried about what people thought about me. I spent tons of timing comparing myself to the models on TV, listening to how women ‘should’ be, look, feel, act and think – and it was only when I let go of what other people thought was right and started listening to my inner-self that I really started to become the perfect me…the perfect woman!

For instance as a woman who does not want to have kids I felt as though that was a big no-no and I have even had friends (ex friends mind you) tell me that it makes me less of a woman. Well, guess what – I am who I am and the fact that I recognize my inner-truth allows me to take pride in that.

Great post – and I love the pink on your blog! I’m totally a pink girl. 🙂

    1. Welcome to the blog Bellaisa!

Glad you could resonate with the post! You are absolutely right about being the perfect woman who should ideally be not just skin deep as they call it, instead be someone who is true to her own inner-self. What we show or portray to the world is secondary, and what matters most is how we relate to ourselves and learn to appreciate who we are.

You are not alone to think the way you did long back. I guess most women worry more about their physical appearance, or how others see them, or how they portray themselves to others. They get so lost with this outer world that they forget to know their own inner-self and who they really are. But yes, once they start appreciating and liking themselves, and make efforts to get better daily- they can reach perfection.

What people say, feel, or do should not ideally matter to us- though it does as we let it! But if we turn our attention, just as you did, to what matters to you- you are much more content and happy in your decision and with yourself.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with everyone, and glad you liked the color of the blog- one of my favorite colors too 🙂

  12. Good thing my husband knew where to look for a perfect woman… lol

    “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. ”
    Proverbs 31: 30-31

    Great tribute, Harleena!

    1. Welcome to the blog Ana- wonderful to have you over!

Am sure your husband doesn’t have to look any further, as the perfect woman of substance is forever with him 🙂

Beautiful proverb and just apt for the post- thanks so much for sharing it with everyone. Glad you liked the post, and thanks so much for stopping by 🙂

Wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day 🙂

  13. “So far I have come across one such perfect woman- my mother”

This brought me to tears Such a beautiful piece. I’m going to need a few cups of tea I think!

    Happy Woman’s Day, Harleena.

    Dee

    1. Welcome to the blog Dee!

Glad you resonated with the post, though am sorry that you were moved to tears.

My mom was the true woman of substance as they call it- she had it all, and I would call myself lucky if I could even manage to get an iota of what she was. Guess there are very who really manage to touch your lives- isn’t it?

Thanks for the kind wishes, and for stopping by 🙂

        1. That’s alright, and am glad you liked the post and it moved you to tears 🙂

  14. Hi Harleena,

Wow, what a beautiful post! I didn’t realize Woman’s Day was tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out!

As I was reading down the list I found out that I wasn’t perfect. Bummer! No, I already knew that. Right out of the gate I messed up as I don’t take good care of myself. I still work too much, exercise too little and sometimes forget to eat. Others always come first…especially my kids. I never missed a soccer game swim meet or hockey game, but it was well worth it. But yes, I do need to make more time for myself.

    Maybe I’ll start tomorrow since it’s Woman’s Day 🙂

Thanks for another great post, Harleena!

    Ilka

    1. Glad you liked the post Ilka!

Most of the women I know didn’t realize it was Woman’s Day as well, guess we do get so involved in our daily routines and remain busy juggling between our family and work, which leaves us little time to think about ourselves. Am glad that days like this are reminders to sit and think about our own-selves and introspect. 🙂

None of us are perfect, so you are not alone! I feel women in general tend to focus all their attention on other things, like their work, family, kids, or home and that really leaves them no time to look after themselves. Speaking of myself, I too hardly get the time to look after myself, till I really take a special day out and do nothing else- but pamper myself.

It sure would be nice if you start pampering yourself and giving yourself the much needed attention starting this Woman’s Day – and really enjoy womanhood 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

      1. Thanks for your kind reply, Harleena! I will take your advice to heart. After all, if I don’t start looking after and start pampering myself who else will? 🙂

        1. Nice to hear that Ilka!

Cheers to womanhood! Wishing you a wonderful and enjoyable Woman’s Day. 🙂

  15. I dont suppose this was meant for only the “women” out there. I really enjoyed what you thought made a woman perfect and the points to keep in mind or nurture oneself is pretty amazing.

I would stand by most of those ideals in a woman and am sure those qualities will make a woman appreciate herself rather than being appreciated by others. Self improvement and self evaluation are the key to take a good look at oneself and live a better life.

    1. Not at all Praveen!

Just as all the other men who mentioned, this post though was written with Woman’s Day in mind, but holds good for both men and women. Anyone wanting to achieve perfection may like to follow these steps, and it’s the journey that matters more than the destination- isn’t it?

You are quite right there about a woman appreciating herself more than others appreciating her. That is what matters most- that women and men learn to look within themselves, make self-improvements, and keep striving towards perfection. That is what would evolve the real person from within us.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  16. Great post!

I didn’t know it was Woman’s Day on March 8th. I have a ways to make it to my “perfect woman” but hey, I am a work in progress. Thanks for brightening my day.

    1. Glad you liked the post Carol!

Yes- it sure is a special day for women tomorrow, and hope you enjoy your day being a woman tomorrow. All of us are work in progress, and that is what matters most at the end of day- isn’t it- that we keep striving to get better every single day 🙂

Wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day 🙂

  17. Hi Harleena,

I’m not a woman but I can greatly appreciate this post. It’s great to see someone promoting the “right” qualities to set out for instead of what gets portrayed most of the time in magazines, movies, television, etc.

Looks and other surface qualities wear out quickly, but personality lasts. That’s the priority and I’m glad you’re sharing it.

    Thanks,

    Bryce

    1. Glad you could resonate with the post Bryce!

Thanks so much for those words of appreciation. Yes indeed, magazines and other medias do cover up a great deal about the outer beauty of a women, more than the inner or real beauty that lies within each women, making her the woman of substance that she is.

You are indeed right, the personality and the true women within is what what lasts forever- rest of the things fade with age. The same would hold good for men as well I guess. 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  18. Hi Harleena,

I’m getting a little late in the train here!

Yes, that’s right, nothing is “perfect” but we can try. I think that being a woman is a wonderful thing. I would like to say that any well balanced woman is happy to be a woman and wouldn’t like to be a man.

As women it’s very important to take care of our body and mind, because most of us lead very, very, busy lives taking care of the rest of the family in many ways, even the man!

We are the ones who bare children and it’s been scientifically proven that it’s a heck of thing to do and men couldn’t even bare it. So, we are strong people. Our mind is very strong too, are brain is very active and has the ability to handle many things at one given time. As women we do this all the time, don’t we?

Thank you for this post about women. It’s great to be one. Don’t you think?

    1. You are not late at all Sylviane!

Any day that you realize your own beauty within is a perfect day to start appreciating yourself, and there’s still another day to go for Woman’s Day 🙂

Absolutely! No one is perfect, but what we can all do is try and get near perfection by taking the mentioned steps. You are so right there and I totally agree with you! If given another chance, I would prefer to be a woman once again rather than a man!

The lives of women is much more stressed out and taxing as compared to those of men, as women, no matter what the circumstances, would always be mothers first- then working women. They do have to look after the house, kids, husbands and their families in general before taking up any other thing in hand. All this surely makes her a super-woman in my eyes 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and adding so much value to the post.

It sure is wonderful to be a woman, and wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day as well 🙂

    1. Welcome to the blog Farouk!

Yes indeed, we do need to focus more on our inner beauty, the real inner-self which exists hidden deep within us. That is the only one thing that would evolve the true human from among us.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  19. Harleena, aloha.

The Perfect Woman. Hmmm. Is there such a creature? Doesn’t the answer to what’s perfect vary from person to person? From time to time?

Harleena, I believe a perfect woman is a woman who is true to herself, to her beliefs and acts accordingly. Depending on what those beliefs are, is what actions/results we will see in the world.

While I agree with the qualities you listed, those attributes may well not apply to other people’s idea of a perfect woman. What one person make consider the perfect woman or wife, another would find not perfect at all.

To me, being the perfect woman is being the best YOU that you can be.

All that being said, let’s celebrte Woman’s Day and all the remarkable women we know. Harleena, you are way up at the top. #YouMatter to me. Sending you warmest aloha, Janet

    1. Glad you could resonate with the post Janet!

Yes indeed, the answer to what a perfect woman really does differ from one person to another, and how and who views the perfect woman. You are so right about what you think about the perfect woman- it is the woman herself and how she sees herself that counts most. And even if she is not perfect in everyone’s eyes, she may be perfect for her own-self in her own ways, or vice versa.

The listed qualities are meant for everyone in fact, but yes as it was Woman’s Day it was meant especially for those women who wished to work on their own-selves and bring out the real women from within. But yes, it may not work for others and how they see a perfect woman- though what matters at the end of the day is that we as humans, keep trying to get better each day- isn’t it?

Just being who you are, as you are is what matters most, and we need to work at evolving ourselves more than anything else.

Thanks for stopping by and saying those warm words. It’s always a pleasure to have you over.

Wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day, and #YouMatter to me as well 🙂

  20. Hi Leena,

I love this post! I came from a very abusive childhood, and didn’t learn to really appreciate myself as a woman until I was well into my 40’s. I spent many years overcoming bad habits and behavior patterns, and am so thankful there were wise women in my life that helped me to do this.

Now, I am proud to say: “I am truly happy with the woman who has evolved.” I am constantly evolving and working on becoming the best woman I can, and I do struggle with some of the things you mentioned. I think woman need to be kinder to one another and praise each other for the steps towards growing stronger and better.

    Much love to you, Leena.

    Great Article.
    Sally

    1. Welcome back Sally and glad that you loved the post!

It sure is nice of you to have stopped over, and I do hope you are feeling better now.

I can well understand how it must have been for you to go through your childhood phase, and the memories associated with it must be rather painful for you.

Nice to know that there were other wiser women in your life who helped you overcome your bad habits and other problems, I guess God always sends his guardian angels for those in need- isn’t it? And I am glad you have learnt to overcome all those hurdles and are shining right through as an independent and strong woman.

You are doing the right thing by working on yourself, something that all of us need to do as well. That is what makes us better and reach closer to perfection, and evolves us into better a better human.

Though we all do have our down times and problems, yet we keep working to get better- isn’t that what life is all about? And yes, women do need to be kinder to each other, so do the men folk!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day in advance 🙂

  21. Hi Harleena,

I absolutely loved how you shared this article. I think that so many women are self-critical and feel they need to stack up to some illusionary “perfect” model painted by the media and magazines.

We all have so much beauty within, despite our self-perceived flaws. When we nurture and love ourselves, we may find that the there is something to that “beauty within” which we hear so many great minds speak of. 🙂

Thank you for sharing this wonderful post with the world. Re-tweeting with a smile!!

    Cat 😉

    1. Glad you could resonate with the post Cat!

You are absolutely right, and just as Carolyn felt how things are hyped or portrayed in the media and magazines, I feel there is a much deeper meaning to the real women that exists within each one of us.

No one is perfect, and I guess each one of us knows that within. But what matters most is that we keep striving to get better each day and work towards that. Yes indeed, when we love and nurture ourselves, the real women with the beauty within shines right through.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and wishing you a Happy Woman’s Day as well 🙂

      1. Oh yes, thank you for that and Happy Woman’s Day to you too, Harleena!

I can definitely see how it can become confusing for women to find balance between striving to be better versus fighting to be perfect. It seems that there are many subtleties here and grey areas that might overlap in places. Everyone copes with life differently, so it’s easy to understand how some people can start with the best of intentions and cross over into areas that are a little self-destructive.

I think that balance is one of those things in life we must always try to create in the middle of all we do whether it’s a quest to nurture the self or find success in business or how we raise a family. 🙂

Your thoughts and insights are so very helpful, Harleena!

        Cat

        1. You are quite right there Cat!

Finding the right balance between striving to be better and fighting to be perfect can be rather confusing for many. But yes, if you know within yourself who you are and what you want to achieve to become the ‘real’ woman of substance, I’m sure you walk on the right path.

Perfection to make yourself a better human is what I most relate to, rather than perfection to be or do everything perfectly, which comes with time on it’s own, and even if it doesn’t- it hardly doesn’t matter. What matters most is that you keep trying and striving for betterment and improvement within yourself.

Glad you find the thoughts helpful Cat- always a pleasure to have you over. Wishing you the best always.

Thanks for joining in the conversation and enjoy Womanhood 🙂

  22. Hi Harleena, Fantastic post!

With all of the magazines and advertisements that show an unattainable ideal for women, it’s helpful to be reminded of what our true ideals should be. I am raising three teenage daughters so it’s important for me to guide them toward an ideal other than what is shown in the media.

I really enjoyed all of your points. It’s a great balance between being comfortable in your own skin and trying to be your best. My favorite is “Don’t be rude or nasty.” The Golden Rule should be the most important rule. If you’re rude and nasty, the other rules won’t matter nearly as much.

Thanks for brightening my day with this post, Harleena!

    1. Glad you liked the post Carolyn!

I absolutely agree with you where the media is concerned and the way things are hyped in it. I guess what needs more focus is our own inner-self and how we can make that perfect, which will evolve us into better human beings. I’m sure your teenage daughters would turn out to be lovely young ladies with such a caring, loving, and perfect mother (and woman!) 🙂

Nice to know that you could best relate to being polite, instead of being rude or nasty! It is an important point and the essence of a true women comes through only when she is caring, loving, and gentle in her actions and deeds.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day in advance 🙂

  23. Hi Harleena,

As a guy, I loved this post.

You really did layout the characteristics of a perfect woman, quite brilliantly.

I do agree that guys tend to expect women to be more caring, sensitive and loving. I’m very glad to say that most women I interact with definitely fall into these categories. 🙂

Wishing you and all other ladies a very happy upcoming Woman’s Day! 🙂

    1. Glad you loved the post Hiten!

I hope I did justice to women and men both, though being Woman’s Day, I had to take a little liberty and dedicate it mainly to the women 🙂

Yes indeed, while guys do expect their women to be more caring, loving, and sensitive, I am sure even the women expect the same things from men! Nice to hear that the women you interact with fall in this category, which makes it all the more worthwhile.

Thank you so much for your kind wishes on Woman’s Day, and wishing the women in your life the very same as well 🙂

  24. Perfect woman- I strive to be perfect by being accountable to how I use my time, talent and help people around me. I hope by starting an eczema fund for low income and a blog for parents with eczema childre, I’m using my talent and time wisely!

    1. Welcome to the blog Mei!

That is indeed a wonderful way to be the perfect woman! To be able to help others in need, to use your time, talent, and wisdom to share among people and parents is one the ways you become the real woman of substance too!

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  25. Well, Harleena, after reading this post twice, and pondering about it overnight, I feel like I can make a comment. Being a “Perfect Woman” has NEVER been on my radar, so this was an interesting concept for me to focus on. The first suggestion was already my downfall. I needed to read it, however, and went out today and got a long overdue haircut. I feel so much better!!! Each suggestion was something for me to consider, and make a conscientious goal to work on the ones I felt applicable. Thankfully, it wasn’t ALL of them, but #10 is a biggie I struggle with. Step by step…day by day…I learn to grow and glow. Well, most of the time. 😉
Had no idea about Woman’s Day. How cool is that?!

    1. Glad you could resonate with the post Cris!

But yes, am sorry for the length of the post as you had to read it twice – guess I just get carried away with words 🙂

You are quite like me, as I had also never given it a real thought about becoming a perfect woman in the literal sense. But when we begin doing or thinking about the things that we can do to make things work for us or think about getting better each day, everything starts falling into place!

Ah…the first point of feeling good by looking after yourself! Well, appearance does make a difference- doesn’t it? And am so glad that you went ahead and got a haircut as well and feel good about it!

The 10th one to appreciate ourselves is something I too struggle with, I guess we really don’t do that or don’t find the time for it! But it is an important point to bring out the woman within us that helps us realize that we are important.

Yes indeed, all that matters at the end of the day is you grow and evolve to get better- step-by-step- and without you knowing it, you will reach right up there real soon 🙂

Woman’s Day is on this coming 8th and is celebrated Internationally, so make it a special day for yourself and appreciate and pamper the woman within you 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day 🙂

      1. Harleena, in no way was the length an issue for me, it was the conceptual depth that took me back a step…or six. I am so appreciative (I think 😉 ) of the personal challenges I am facing…by choice…via blogs such as yours.
And, indeed, I need to plan something fun with my local gal pals for the 8th.
Wishing you a HWD as well.

        1. Oh…I understand that now Cris!

I was actually a little worried about some readers not taking the length of the post too well 🙂

Am glad that you are able to overcome your personal challenges through blogs like mine and that has been my aim of putting up this blog, to help out as much as I can, in whatever way I can.

Wonderful indeed! Plan out something special for Woman’s Day, and have a perfect day out celebrating yourself 🙂

  26. I agree with Deeone_Higgs – this post seems, on the surface, to be geared towards women, but actually there is much for men to learn here to.

We all, men and women are always striving to be better and better – to become more fully who we really are!

Also, both men and women have the opposite in them as well. In the Far East, this is the balance of Yin and Yang.

We have both sides in us though we are predominately one or the other. Men must strive to become better partners, husbands and fathers.

Male or female, life has many lessons for us to learn from.

    1. You are quite right there David!

I did want to mention the men in the post also, but then put it all in Italics as it was for women for Woman’s Day. Nonetheless, everything that works for women also works for men, and what matters at the end is that evolve into better human beings- isn’t it?

Yes indeed, you are right about Yin and Yang and that both men and women have a little of each other in them- though we are only one of them. Something on the same lines is what one of the Hindu deity this side is called also- ‘Ardhnarishwar’ or having both the qualities of men and women. Sometimes we do see certain feminine qualities in men, and masculine qualities in women- though the percentage may vary.

Men and women, both need to become better parents, better partners, and better humans- that’s what counts at the end of the day.

Thanks for stopping by and adding more value to the post. 🙂

  27. Hey Harleen!

Another awesome post… where do you come up with such brilliant ideas? 😉

Well, you must be knowing how woman from the Indian culture have totally different expectations and patterns of leading their lives. And though I have lived abroad all my life, we do stick to the Indian style of upbringing. I have seen my mother maintain the culture around. And yes, I feel Indian woman do tend to miss out on certain important aspects. Like they always put others before themselves.. always. And they are very careless at keeping care of their health. I doubt this is a culture thing or maybe an issue due to joint families or so; but yes, this is one prominent feature.

The me time is a challenge. Though I don’t have kids or ain’t married, I still find it hard to find the me time where I can just be with myself. I do wish I work more on that!

Thanks for such a great reminder Harleen! 🙂

    1. Glad you liked the post Hajra!

Well, the idea of this post goes to my husband who was kind enough to remind me that as Woman’s Day was round the corner, why not write something special on women!

You are right about Indian culture and the woman leading totally different lifestyles as compared to the west. But things are changing nowadays and women are taking lead roles all over, be it the work scenario or the home-front. However, I agree totally about women this end always putting their kids, husbands, or families before themselves, thus miss out on recognizing their own true potential or the real woman within. When woman care more for others, they forget about themselves and the health does take a back seat. This mainly happens at our end and not in the west I guess. That’s the reason the first line of the post started with the definition of a perfect woman varying in different cultures, which is a fact.

Finding time for my own-self is tough for me too, especially when I have my hands full with two kids, my husband, as well as my in-laws who live above our house- so there’s just no ‘me’ time for me too!! But yes, am glad the kids are a little grown up and can take care of themselves, so I do manage to take out a few moments for myself- though that’s the time I come online to be with everyone 🙂

Guess starting with this Woman’s Day, we should promise ourselves to take out a little time away – just to be with our own-selves- what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by, always love you to add more value to the post by your wonderful comments 🙂

  28. 🙂 Exhaustive. Exhausting. But I think I might pass. Just. 🙂

Finding “me” time is usually the biggest challenge, but I think I am getting there quite nicely.

And you, my dear Harleena – rock. Your goodness comes off in waves in this post!
Cheers to all women, wouldn’t you say?

I kind of love how our mothers are our idols. For me, my Mom was two parents rolled into her pint size – and she was a tremendously amazing person.

Loved the post! And a very happy woman’s day every single day of the year to you, Harleena!

    Much love. Vidya

    1. You sure would pass with flying colors Vidya!

Sorry for having exhausted you- I didn’t mean to!

Yes indeed, finding the real women within ourselves IS the biggest challenge! And though we know we have our hidden strength within us, it remains hidden till someone comes along and makes us realize it, or till we face such challenging life situations where we evolve fully 🙂

Thank you for your warm and kind words, I am just being the same old me! Yes, cheers to women for sure!

My mother sure has been my idol, and I know how much you were fond of your mother and looked up to her as well. Their loss is something not easy to get over, but I guess we don’t have to get over them, isn’t it? They live deep within our hearts and will always remain our guardian angels.

Wishing you a very Happy Woman’s Day as well 🙂

  29. Enjoyed your article!

Do what you love. Learn to value and listen to your inner self. There is a part of every living being (humans, animals, etc.) that knows exactly what to do, exactly which choices we should make. The more we listen to and heed this, the more peace and joy we feel and spread to other living beings.

    1. Welcome to the blog Denise!

Glad you liked the post, and yes, you should do what you love and listen to your inner-self- that’s is what makes you the real you- isn’t it? At the end of the day it is all about how we are able to connect best with ourselves and that is what is portrayed outwards as well.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  30. I think that what makes the perfect woman is different to different people. I don’t think, for example, that a woman should stay at home and cook and clean for the man, I think that both partners should have equal standing in the household.

    1. Yes, you could take that as another perspective Harriet!

Each person is different, and so are their views about the perfect woman. Women nowadays are much more independent and liberated to just sit home and cook or clean for their men, though some like doing that too. And there is absolutely no harm in taking care of your family and home- is there?

But yes, even the men are kind enough to lend a helping hand in the household chores- especially where both partners are working. And that again is and depends on the understanding between the couple. If and what suits them, works best for them. The definition of the perfect woman may differ in all conditions, and may be totally different if you see it from the woman’s eye.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  31. Harleena such a thoughtful post!

The key is to take time to pause; explore the beauty within and learn to accept and embrace ourself. As you say we are works in action. Hugs and all ladies remember you are doing the best you can.

    1. Glad you liked the post Ntathu!

Yes indeed, you are so right in what you mentioned. We do need to take note of ourselves, the beauty within us, and learn how to pause and explore our inner-selves- the real woman within.

Thanks for your kind wishes, and wishing you a Happy Woman’s Day as well 🙂

  32. There is definitly nothing wrong with wanting to be perfect, we should all aspire to be better tomorrow than we are today its when it becomes an obsession (like anorexia or something) that it is problematic. Anything that tries to improve you as a person with a little common sense applied is a good thing.

    1. Welcome to the blog Claire!

Glad you could resonate with the post!

You are so right in saying that there’s nothing wrong in wanting to be perfect. In fact when you aspire to get better, you work more towards perfection and that brings out the real woman within us.

Of course, we shouldn’t reach the limits or overdo it so that it becomes a problem! But a change made to evolve yourself as a better human being is worth going in for.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  33. Hi Harleena,

Although this was one for the ladies, I personally really enjoyed this myself. And if you really think about it, there were some helpful tips that us men could very well apply as well.

For instance, each of the steps you provided to nurture the perfect women within, I am constantly perfecting myself. I want to take better care of myself, and I always try to be mindful not to be rude or nasty against others. Getting rid of habits is a biggie too. Avoiding materialism is always one that we should polish up on, and allowing change…. well, you already know that’s a biggie for me.

I guess I relate to this so well, because I grew up being around women. There were men in my life, but I always related better with the women figures a bit more.

I used to think that was partly because of being who I am, but I’ve come to learn a bit more about myself and know that I just really admire a strong minded women. The older I get the more I see how there are some women that don’t cherish or respect themselves very much. So when I see a women that does, I have to commend her for being who she is and carrying herself with so much honor. My grandmother was that way, and I know that a women that holds herself honorable always gets what she wants in life.

And that’s not to be taken in any other context that just that. 🙂

So to you and all the other women that might read this post, that carry yourselves like ladies, Happy Women’s Day! I celebrate each of you! 🙂

    1. Glad you enjoyed the post Deeone & I’m SO happy that you did stop by!

I was just about thinking that perhaps of the one-sided topic, there may be no gents stopping over to read the post or comment. But deep within I just knew you surely would stop by as you would relate to the post.

The post was mainly created for Woman’s Day, so had to be for women, but as you so rightly mentioned that the things mentioned within could also work for men.

Yes indeed, we all do need to perfect ourselves and get a little better by the day. Taking care of oneself, being polite and not rude or nasty, getting rid of bad habits, not being materialistic, and being willing to adapt and change yourself etc- surely do work both ways.

I know your Granny had a major role in your upbringing, more than your mother. Similar must be the case with most men, who are surrounded by women in their lives like their mothers, sisters, grandmothers etc- so they too are able to relate them so well (which I mentioned at the end of the post!)

I guess men are best able to relate to those women who affect and touch their lives directly or indirectly. As in your case, it was your Grandmother who you kind of idolized as she was a strong minded respectable woman, thus you look up to women who are ‘real’ woman of substance.

You are quite right by saying that a woman, who carries herself with honor, cherishes and respects herself for the way she is, and works towards getting better- always does get what she wants in life (sooner or later!).

Thanks so much for your kind wishes Deeone, and for your wonderful comment. Wishing the wonderful women in your life a very Happy Woman’s Day as well 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and adding so much value to the post 🙂

  34. Oh crap, I flunked.

I was doing really good until I go to being fearless (which I’m STILL not) and learn to take compliments (I’m still working on this one). Everything else I believe I’ve got down pretty good.

I was never one of those women that turned heads when men walked by or had that gorgeous body. My personality is what attracts people to me and my caring nature. I have learned to let go of things over the years and to stop judging myself on my looks alone.

I’m proud of who I am and what I’ve become and that’s all we really can do right Harleena!

Thanks for sharing this and I had no idea Women’s Day was next week. Will have to write that down on my calendar…

    🙂

    1. You can never flunk Adrienne!

You may feel so, but ask the many lives that you inspire and motivate!

Yes, we all do have our down moments when nothing seems to work, and all that we do may also may not be what and the way we want it to.

We often fear the unexpected and that happens when we let our imagination run, though our greatest strength lies hidden within us, about which we really never get to know till the right moment comes.

And regarding compliments, ah…you sure would have got many about your warm and helping nature- something that everyone must so often be telling you!

Physical beauty is rare I guess, or that kind of perfection though some women may possess, but it’s not something that I ever had either. But yes, I guess like me you too must have got a few remarks here and there (of course when we were younger!). Happens with most teenagers or younger women!

Of course, your personality is remarkable and it outshines everything else about you! That in itself makes you a perfect or idol person. It carries more weightage and value than looks or the physcial aspect of being a perfect woman.

Yes indeed, all that matters at the end of the day is how YOU feel about yourself, all that you have achieved, the journey so far, and your will to keep going and moving on in life. I appreciate and am proud of you too for your achievements 🙂

I didn’t realize Woman’s Day was on the 8th either, till my husband reminded me and suggested that I write a post on it! Guess we women remain so busy in our daily routines to remember about such days! But it felt nice coming from him and that he remembered about it.

Wishing you a very Happy Woman’s day (in advance) 🙂

      1. You are absolutely right there Carolyn!

Adrienne doesn’t realize how close to perfection she already is! Guess we need to let her know to make her believe (lol!)

Thanks for letting her know that 🙂

          1. You are so right! I hope Adrienne manages to read all this 🙂

She IS indeed wonderful, though doesn’t want to believe it!

      2. I’m with you too, Carolyn! Adrienne is FAR from a flunk!!

I think that the fact that Adrienne showcases herself (not to mention how she is RECEIVED by the masses) in the way she does is evidence of her fearlessness. 🙂

Being fearless may manifest itself in different ways in different people! And Adrienne, I have to tell ya, you are indeed a shining of fearlessness dosed by openness and kindness!

        <3 ya girl!!

        Cat

        1. Ditto every word you say Cat!

I hope and pray Adrienne hears all of us and comes back once again to read all this 🙂

            1. Hopefully Cat! or else may have to send her a small message to come along- may be on Woman’s Day itself 🙂

Thanks for sharing your views 🙂

    2. Stop bursting my bubble, Adrienne. Here’s one who’s looking up to you. I often think, “gosh, if I only could be more like Adrienne.” I love your outgoing nature and your bubbliness. (Don’t know if that’s a word or not. I think you’re as close as can get to perfect 🙂

      Cheers,

      Ilka

      1. You are absolutely right there Ilka!

I think we all do look up to Adrienne, more so for inspiration and motivation, and for the person she is. A real woman of substance 🙂
