A girl who knows how to lead a good life and be happy

Do you think living a good life and happiness are interrelated and interdependent? I think they are. If you want to lead a good life, you need to have happiness, and if you want to be happy, you need to have a good life!

Nevertheless, leading a good life is not the right of the wealthy only.

In fact, you will be surprised to know that living a good life has nothing much to do with money.

Of course, money is important. If not to live a lavish life, at least to acquire the necessities of life, like food, water, shelter, clothes, means of enjoyment, education, etc.

Some studies even show a saturation point to the happiness that comes from money.

Beyond a certain level, no matter how much more money you earn or spend your happiness level does not increase in that proportion.

Money is definitely not the sole criteria of happiness and a good life.

“Even if you’ve all the money in the world, you can still suffer from miseries and not be happy.” (Tweet this)

This makes it obvious that there are more ways to lead a good life, which can bring real happiness into your life.

Let me ask you a few questions.

Are you happy with the life you are living? Do you know how to lead a good life that would bring you happiness?

I think people try to find answers to these questions in their own ways. That is because everyone wants to make their lives better, isn’t it?

Life is good for those who believe it is and there is a lot you can do to make it a happy one too. If you want to live a life that is good, you can.

However, if you think you cannot be happy or do not deserve happiness in your life, then you end up being unhappy.

Therefore, your happiness in life depends on your state of mind and the nature of your thoughts – if you have them in order and control, you can lead a good life.

Not to forget – you can find happiness in small ways and small things too, once you start living a more good and meaningful life.

What Is A Good Life

Living a good life could mean different things to different people. Simply speaking, it means a life that brings you happiness and peace in life.

Leading a good and happy long life means the good relationships you nurture and the compassionate actions you perform.

It also includes the good deeds you do, goals you try to achieve, legacy you leave behind, and so much more.

Leading a good life is about valuing time, which is the greatest element of life.

Every moment counts, and if you try to be happy in each passing moment, you actually make your life good.

Most people get busy in their lives and tend to forget the little moments to lead a good life, which have the power to make your life magical.

For some people, living a good and happier life would seem like you need to live your big dreams that require you to need put in a lot time and effort.

However, living a good life is not about money and not about the big things. Nor does it require you to sweat it out all the time.

It is about the easy, small, and manageable things and ways, which are within the reach of every person in this world.

“There is a good life. The good news is that you can live that good life. The good life is the happy life. To live this good life, be happy! A truly happy man is a good man.” ~ Ogwo David Emenike

How To Live A Good Life

It is not difficult to live a fulfilling life, provided you are ready to change yourself and your mindset.
People in general, always want more, which is okay if it is within reasonable limits.

Suppose you have a decent house, but you might want a bungalow after a while, and once you get that, then you would want a luxurious villa!

Your desires and demands go on increasing. You are never content with what you have, and that perhaps is human nature.

As a result, to achieve all this, people are urged to work harder and earn more money. This results in leading busy and stressful lives.

DO READHow To Stop Rushing Through Life.

People don’t have time to do things that really matter. They do not have time for themselves – to do things they like to do, or to be with and enjoy nature.

Nor do have time to spend with their family or friends.

Actually, you need very little to lead a good and happy life. If you look around yourself, you already have enough, like consumer goods, money, or other such things.

Yet you want more because the desire to have more does not end, isn’t it? However, you need to decide what is more precious to you in life to be happy.

Is it the materialistic things or living a good life?

Long-lasting happiness goes with what has a permanence nature, something that is not perishable and that whose resource is within you.

“It is the moments and not the money that brings happiness into your life.” (Tweet this)

To reconnect with the good life, you need to stop working too hard and slow down your pace.

Instead, start filling up your work time with a little bit of leisure or “me” time. (Good reminder for me too!)

There are many ways to lead a good life – let us go through them 🙂

15 Ways To Lead A Good Life

Living the good life is all about finding the real you. It is about going after your dreams, and conquering your fears and replacing it with happiness.

Here are a few ways to help you live a good life –

1- Slow Down Your Pace

Are you always in a rush? If you are, then you need to slow down your pace to appreciate the moments of life.

You need to know that there is a difference between working hard and working smart, between getting things done, and getting them done effectively.

Take a break to live your life – you deserve it! 🙂

Remember, work done in haste and urgency will reduce your accuracy, awareness, and happiness. You need to know how to be stay focused and do what is required.

2- Nurture Your Relationships

A fulfilling and happy life is a life that you share with your family and friends. Bond with your loved ones and foster your relationships.

Spend time with your parents, children, family, and friends. Let go of negative friendships and those who pull you down.

Instead, surround yourself with positive people who inspire and motivate you.

Take out time from your busy life to create memories. They are the only things that remain with you, nothing else. Don’t forget to criticize less and appreciate more.

Store them in your journals if you have one, and you could even capture the moments by taking pictures and putting them up.

3- Learn to Forgive And Forget

I know this is a tough thing to do for most people, but it is the only way to overcome your pain and lead a good life ahead.

Forgive those who hurt you. Face and accept the pain and hurt, but then need to let them go. This is a big way you heal yourself. Once you do that, you will see wonderful things entering your life.

4- Live Life Fully

Be self-sufficient as that gives you the maximum freedom to live life fully. Learn about different things in life, that it is better than mastering just one!

“The trick is to enjoy life. Don’t wish away your days, waiting for better ones ahead.” ~ Marjorie Pay Hinckley

Travel far and visit different places that will widen your horizons. Meet new people and make new contacts, and just be there enjoying life!

5- Focus on Your Passions

Be passionate about your endeavors, which are your true wealth. Be clear about where you want to go by focusing on your goals.

However, be flexible and resilient if things do not go your way or your plans don’t shape the way you thought they would.

Make decisions that add meaning to your life. By following general time management tips, you can achieve success.

“Find your focus by seeking all that is good in your life.” ~ Lorii Myers

6- Help Others

Never forget to help others as that brings you happiness and satisfaction in life. It could be your family or friends. Remember, what goes around comes around. That is Karma.

Care for the sick and injured, and do volunteer work. Make a difference to someone’s life – that would be a life worth living.

Always try to help and do more for others than what you would do for yourself. Put them ahead of you.

Small things like opening a door for someone, giving your seat to an elder, or wishing someone matters.

7- Remain Positive

Life has it’s down moments, but you need to overcome the negativity and remain positive. Don’t worry about things that you cannot control.

Learn to own up to your actions and be responsible for them.

If you promise something to someone, ensure you keep your promise. Also, smile and laugh more than you do now, a good reminder for all of us, isn’t it?

8- Do Not Try To Be Perfect

More than achieving perfection look for satisfaction at the end of the day. Lower your expectations, it causes less frustration and makes life less complicated, and you are able to lead a happy one too.

Plan your day and take small steps to achieve your goals one after the other. It doesn’t have to be a perfect plan – just a rough sketch of all that you need to get done.

“Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.” ~ John Lennon

Strive for a more purposeful and happy life. Use your senses to look at people without judging them. See them with compassion, kindness, and love.

9- Lead A Healthy Lifestyle

You are what you eat, so eat clean and healthy food. Look after yourself by taking time to exercise and sleep well. Remember, a tired mine is unhappy and inefficient.

If you sleep in time, you can get up early, and the early hours are the most productive ones. You can get the maximum done if you are an early bird like me. 🙂

Take up some hobbies like playing games that enhance your skills instead of sitting indoors watching TV or keeping busy with work. Try out meditation, yoga, listen to music, and just unwind.

You need to find the right work-life balance that suits you.

10- Enjoy Life’s Moments

Take out time to appreciate the simple pleasures of life. All the good things in life are free – so, enjoy and value them.

Be mindful of your surroundings. Appreciate simple things like the sunrise and sunset, the lakeside view, spending time in nature, raindrops falling, or anything that life puts forth you.

Not to mention the warmth of a hug or touch, a smile, a kiss, and just anything you are grateful for being in your life.

Right NOW is the only moment that is guaranteed to you – this is your life, don’t miss living it!

“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.” ~ Omar Khayyan

Lead a good life enjoying cherries

11- Never Stop Learning

Gather all the information you can to be happy in your life, learn to love without conditions, and never stop leaning empirically.

It could be through reading books, magazines, online sites and blogs, or just about anything, that increases your knowledge.

Take risks, take chances, because that is how you will know you have lived a life the way you wanted, and that life would be so worth it.

Try something new often because following a routine becomes boring at times. Life becomes interesting when you have something new to do and think about.

It could be a new big activity or a small one like talking to a new friend. Anything that helps you learn something new is good. So, go ahead and try it out 🙂

“The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge.” ~ Bertrand Russell

12- Love Some More

Love, love, love, and when you are feel you have nothing left – go ahead and love some more! You never lose anything by loving others. 🙂

Love your family and spend time with them because they are the people who really matter. Just go ahead and do it! A life unloved isn’t worth it. Love the life you live because you live just once!

13- Accept And Adapt To Change

I’ve written often about adapting to change because I believe change is constant. So, instead of being unhappy about the change that comes to your life, adjust to it.

If you come across failures, doesn’t matter. It might hurt initially, but look to the positive aspect of it.

Each failure teaches you something in return and makes you stronger, and takes you towards success.

You might ask whether you should change your life or not. If you are happy with the way things are, then don’t, or else go ahead – change and make it better. 🙂

Any good change can open better opportunities for you, provided you are willing to accept it.

14- Learn To Give

There is great joy in giving. The more you give, the more you receive. Even if you don’t get back anything in return, at least you know you have done a good deed.

It could be through charity, donation, or just by helping people by your services towards them. Just go ahead and start spreading joy by giving.

15- Just Be Yourself

You are you and no one else, so don’t try to copy someone to please others. You don’t have to do that, nor will you be able to do it for long.

Just be who you are and people will love you for that, and you too will get to know your real friends from the fake ones this way. Pave your path and follow your heart.

Believe in yourself and your abilities – sky is the limit for you. Listening to others is alright, but you need to eventually do what you believe in and whatever your vision is.

“Your definition of a good life does not have to look like everyone else thinks it should. Whatever feels right for you, whatever aligns your inside with your outside, that’s what you should spend your time doing.” ~ G.G. Renee Hill

I would simply say that living a good and happy life is being happy with all that you have. Yes, pursue your dreams, don’t stop doing that, but keep enjoying the moments in life.

I hope you are ALL geared to start living a more meaningful life after reading this post.

Remember, it is YOUR life – so make it a good one! 🙂

  1. Hey Harleena,

I though I had read all of your posts from last year but it looks that I overlooked this one. This is definitely a great post about being happy and it came at a great time.

Sometimes people try to make you feel guilty about being happy which I tend to be nonchalant about. I make every effort to try to be happy despite the negativity I come across. Although sometimes it comes out of my mouth (curse words) once in a while, for the most post I’m lays trying g to surround myself with positive people more so than I did before whether they are physically around me, through books, videos, etc.

And from doing this you start to become more aware of the good things in life whether it be internally or physically seen…everything has that positive enervy in them and they’re there for us to take notice!

Thanks for sharing Harleena! Have a great weekend!

  2. Hi Hareleena Mam,
    Great post again!!
I am totally agreee with each and every point you have mentioned in this post.
THe meaning of life is not to live for ourselves, we should always try to do something for others who are in need. It gives a lot of happiness and satisfaction t us.
I am agree with you that if you word hard then there is no value of you but if you work smart, you can achieve what you want. So we should always try to work smart instead of working hard.
The person who have a skill to forget and forgive can live happy without any tension or depression. We if we want to live happy, we need to forget our bad moments.
After reading your point Never stop learning, I remembered a quote “A day without learning is like a day without breathing.” by Robin Sharma.

Thanks a lot for sharing this informative post. Have a great ahead 🙂

    Naveen

  3. Hi Harleena,

What an inspiring read indeed. To be honest I was feeling a little down today but thanks to your inspirational post, I feel a lot better. I personally liked the below points to lead a good life.

Learn to Forgive And Forget- It’s important to forgive and forget. Focusing on our or other’s shortcomings can only cause a lot of frustration and sadness.

Live Life Fully- Very important indeed for everybody to live life to the fullest and enjoy every millisecond of our time.
Help Others- I personally feel this makes our day instantly better. I have found helping someone usually makes me feel happy right away.
Remain Positive- It’s important to be positive at all times even when you feel down. There is absolutely no point in being negative all day along.
Never Stop Learning- “Known is a drop, unknown is an ocean”. We need to remember that every day we have so many things to learn. We should never miss the opportunity to learn.
Love Some More- My personal favourite “love”. The most powerful and destructive feeling in the world. We need to love even when we get nothing in return. That’s how love works. It has magical powers that nobody can comprehend.

Great post again. you are an inspiration as always.

    Keep writing 🙂

  4. I believe one can live a happy life by making other people or the people in our life happy and by not hurting them.Be forget and let forgive is the only principle of living a good life, that you have also mentioned. I also want to say that your writing is really impressive and you doing a great job.

  5. Hi, I really like one of your point that we should forget and forgive, I believe our whole happiness is based on this small phrase so we should try to forget and forgive and it will ultimately lead to a good life and happiness.

  6. Hello Harleen

This is really an amazing post and I applaud you for this. I find all the suggestions spot on. You are right that happiness is not something that can only be linked with the money or money is not the only thing that can buy us happiness. It is a state of mind and our soul, it originates in our hearts and soothes our mind and body and how this can come to us, as you have written; being Positive, being us,by working hard, by helping others it comes to us.
I too believe here that we can be happy if we trust God and pray from Him to give us peace and happiness. As much we will give importance to the time with Him, we will find more peace and happiness in our life.

Thank you for a great share.

  7. I read a book called Mind Calm, and since then I’ve really been practicing living in the moment with all the techniques that he lays out in the book. To me, this is one of the best ways to lead a good life. All of your points resonate with me, but number 10 the most. Enjoying life’s moments, and being present in the moment, is so enlightening.

I just went on vacation, and while there were many things that happened that could have made me miserable, it was being present in the moment that helped me enjoy my vacation to it’s fullest. So important to stay mindful.

  8. Hello Mam,

I am a tremendous fan of your writing.

According to me we can’t always buy our happiness with money,in fact we can also get the happiness to help someone and get happiness in other’s happiness 🙂

Its a bless and grace of those for whom you help.i always believe in forgiveness. I often forgive and forget guilty of others.

Life is too short I would like live my life with my well wishers friends and family with joy and happiness 🙂

Thanks for sharing this awesome post 🙂

Life is really good & Beautiful, We just need to balance with life ! Thanks Harleena for this nice post !

  10. I think living a good life and happiness are highly correlated. when you live good life, you are happy. Happiness is a state of the mind. we can condition our mind towards happiness and once that is achieved, we are living good life. I love this post

  11. Great post!

With the natural disasters the planet is currently experiencing, we will soon see the demise of the ego and the opening of hearts. These conditions will lead us to find happiness within ourselves (where it has always been) rather than without. Forget the luxuries and start appreciating the real beauty of our planet and her people.

“Happiness is snuggled up in a quiet spot within you. You need only be still and silent and allow it to unfold until it eventually engulfs you.”

  12. Hi Harleena,

Really nice post, 15 steps you are given above is really helpful to make a good and happy like.

the speed of life is so high that peoples are not getting time for even them self

  18. In today’s fast life it’s really hard to get a good life as per our own desire. Anyway I appreciate you for writing such a wonderful post.

  19. Its Really a very nice post every-time I come to this website I always learn something new and the credit goes to you thank you so much.

  20. Hi Harleena,

Once again a great post from your side. Everyone wants to leave a good life, but more than 75% fail at it.

The main reason is the money. Everyone gets into the rat-race of earning more and money. It’s a taboo that getting more money leads to happiness.

We have seen daily news of how property disputes lead to murders.

    Thanks for this informative post,

    Sayantan

  21. Great list and powerful read! I agree it’s so important that we experience these emotions on a regular basis.

  22. Hello MAM.
You really write the great post here and the values of life you put in this post is really awsome .
No one is perfect in this world so you are right don’t try to be perfect just do what your heart tells you to do.
DO WHAT YO LOVE AND LOVE WHAT YOU DO.

being helpfull in life really matters a lot. It will help you in many situations in our life .

Thanks Mam for such a inspirational post

  23. I think part of living a good life is living on your own terms. Once you stop trying to fit into someone else’s template of life you’ll feel relief.

Also, stop looking for approval. It’s your life, as long as you are happy with it what does it matter to others? They should just be happy you’re happy. You can live two different ways and still have the same level of happiness.

Trying to meet someone’s vision is a recipe for misery.

    ~Lea

  24. Another epic content from you, Harleena! 🙂

I really like your insightful thought. I must remark that your advices are brilliant and valuable.

I think you should know first what a good life really means to you. I agree that it’s not actually hard to live a fulfilling life. I don’t know how would I confirm that with my words, but I guess I should say it like this. “To achieve genuine happiness, make God the center of your life…”

Thank you very much for this awesome content, Harleena.

Hope to hear more great things from you! 🙂

    Best,
    Ann07

By the way, I found this post shared on Kingged.com

  25. Hi Harleena,

Again you have posted fabulous article. I am a big fan of you because when i am read your article am feel very happy. All time am got something new from your every article. Now you posted very unique article how to lead good life and be happy. we all wants a happy life your all views is very helpful for us to lead good life and be happy.

    Thanks for sharing

    Keep it up 🙂

  26. Very nice article, bloggers should definitely read it. I knew the time when i started blogging, my social life got totally disturbed. After then i slow down my pace & finally I am living a good & happy life. One Thing that i want to add is ” We should always thank GOD, who is the real teacher of our SOUL” ( it is most important factor but only few people understands it). We can never be happy if we are not satisfied, so always remember GOD.

  27. I happened upon your post and I found myself reading the entire post and finding that you are correct. After I let go of a lot of hangups and forgave people for any wrong doings I have been the happiest I have ever been. I went from faking a smile for everyone to really smiling. I had not known my real smile, a happy smile from me bares teeth and gums.

Thank you for this post, it was a great read.

  28. I Think one good idea for living a good life would be to make a bucket list. There are certain things in life that one wants to do before he/she dies. Its good to write your personal wishes in a diary. Small wishes that you never cared much about because they dont require much resources like money. Try it. Open a Diary and write down 5 things that you want to do this month. You will be happy to see the results.

  29. Hi Harleena,

The need of the hour article. Happiness is always a mindset and depends entirely on you. Money is just a status symbol, nothing else. But people chase after it missing all the goodness of life. You can be rich in money, but poor in your mind if you do not know what true love and care is. Couple fight over money, little realizing that their marriage depend on their love and not on their money. Siblings fight for money, little realizing that they need emotional support as they grow old.

If only all of us pause for a while and analyze our lives we will find how much we have overlooked our blessings.

  30. Hey Harleena,

Another excellent post with such great advice.

I guess until you’ve walked in other people’s shoes it’s hard to understand why some people have difficulty with being happy.

It’s really easy to me if you just appreciate life itself. It’s not about what you have in material things or even money. Sure, those are necessities that make the world go round but if all of that were taken away tomorrow what would you be left with? Hopefully just your family and friends and isn’t that what life is all about?

It all comes down to love. That’s what we all should be more aware of.

I think that a lot of what you’ve shared here can help those who aren’t already in that particular space. Those still searching for some type of answer. As you know me, I’m just happy to wake up every morning and know I have another day to live on this earth. That God blessed me with what I have in my life.

I know that some people can’t be alone and aren’t happy with just being in their own company and I think until you can get to that place you won’t understand what true happiness is. It’s about loving ourselves so that we can fully love others.

Sorry, kind of got off in my own little space there. I get kind of passionate about life in general you know. I just wish people saw and felt what I do and I think they would have a much better understanding but in the meantime we definitely have you to help us along.

Have a great weekend Harleena and another great lesson.

    ~Adrienne

  31. Hi Harleena
Your post summarizes most of the meaningful things in life which one should look forward to instead of clamouring behind empty materialistic dreams.Beautiful read.

For me life is all about savoring the little pleasures that go unnoticed when we are busy with the bigger problems of life.I try to filter through the haze of stress and look for the positives and that really works wonders in keeping me happy!

  32. Hi Harleena,

Being you helps you be happy, and creates a good life. I slow down, calm down, breathe slowly, and see good happening around me, no matter what. Tune in. See blessings. Relax. Live a happy life.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Ryan,

That’s very true. I think just being your own self is bliss. I know you are one person who surely does enjoy life, especially when you take your little breaks travelling around and visiting places. Truly living a good and happy life 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views 🙂

  33. Hello Harleena,
Did i arrive to the party late? I was caught up doing some offline matters 🙂

I do use most of your golden steps you mentioned here to live a better life.

I realised that making yourself happy and helping others is one good way to live a fulfilled life. If you are good every other things comes naturally, don’t you think?
Thanks for the lovely post dear friend and do have a nice week ahead…

    1. Hi Babanature,

You are never late, and always welcome anytime you find the time to visit because I know you are a busy person 🙂

Good to know that you are already doing most of these things mentioned. Absolutely! By helping others, you are actually doing a great deed, a selfless service to reach out and help those who might need it and have no one to go to. It certainly is a great way to live a good and fulfilling life that can only bring you contentment and happiness.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with us. Have a nice week as well 🙂

  34. Harleena,

Anytime I read an article from your blog I always feel inspired. Leading a good life is basically a matter of choice and no doubt that all and sundry deserve nothing less than a good live just as you have listed what good life truly are. To cap it all, leading a good life keeps the body, mind and soul together and healthy.

    1. Hi Edwin,

Ah…thank you for saying that – you made my day with your kind words, and it’s words like these that motivate me to carry on too 🙂

Yes indeed, to lead a good and happy life or an unhappy one, is always a choice we have to make because the real source of happiness lies within us, though we tend to seek it outside of us. Leading such a meaningful and worthy life keeps us happy right through, isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

BTW – Do get yourself a Gravatar so that we can see who we are talking to. Just a friendly suggestion as I see your picture on your blog, so you perhaps need to sign in with that same email ID. 🙂

  35. Nice article. Today people are chasing things that they want. They are not worried about the needs. There is a great difference between wants and needs. Life has become more materialistic. Relationships are being shown the back door.
Most of the people have celebrities as their ideals but they fail to understand that it is very lonely at the top.Money is very important in life but only to a certain extent.
Today, youngsters are falling in the trap of materialistic lifestyle. Marketing strategy of the companies are luring the youngsters to buy expensive gadgets, fancy bikes which are often bought to impress others rather than for something useful.
For me sitting together with the entire family is happiness.

    1. Welcome to my blog Tanveer!

You are absolutely right. People crave and want more than before and there is no limit to such wants. It is indeed a materialistic world, whether we believe it or not, though I wish it wasn’t.

I agree about celebrities or actors being the role models, but their life is so different from ours, something that people fail to understand. It may be lonely but it’s not as easy life they lead either. The grass always looks greener on the other side, isn’t it?

People are mostly after money and how to make it fast, without realizing there is so much more to lead a good and happy life. Yes, the younger generation is out to impress and impact their friends through the latest gizmos and would go to any lengths to spend a lot on such materialistic things. I wonder how long they remain happy with such things, without any bonding or connection with the real world full of people where relationships are important.

Perhaps one day they will realize, and just like some people do, they give it all up and just shift or switch their lives to a much simpler and peaceful one because they seek real happiness, not the temporary one. Yes indeed, being with your loved ones is the best thing of all.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with us 🙂

  36. Hello Madam ,
Yes like always a new great refreshing and inspirational message giving blog post.
Though I had read it the very 1st hour of its publishing I could not give my own comments here as I browse from a basic mobile that can’t handle such big pages especially commenting.

Though I’m not so grown up to develop an opinion on such complex topic what I do understand is life’s happiness is never measured by parameters like money or followers. It ultimately is counted on how you have lived it till and how positively the lives of those associated with you have been affected by you. If you have something that could do a little to bring a smile on anyone’s(not only family but also strangers)face your day is done.

I may not be correct or if I may be still missing something on my concept then please guide me

    1. Hi Swadhin,

Well, thank you for saying that 🙂

No problem at all, and I am glad you found the time to finally stop by to read and comment the post now. Anytime is a good time I would say.

That’s true. We cannot measure happiness with money or feel that if we have money, then only we will be happy. Money can perhaps buy you happiness for a little time, but what after that? Real happiness lies in many other things for which we have to lead a good life, just as mentioned in the post.

I agree with you there – it depends on how you live your life and how you make a difference to someone else’s life too, or how others are affected by you. Yes, just passing on a simple smile can make someone’s day so much brighter – they might be needing it more than you, something most of us forget doing. Not at all, you are all right in what all you mentioned 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us 🙂

      1. Thank you ma’am for your words and appreciation 🙂
I love coming here and I thank God that I am driven here with the intention to gain knowledge and guided by you. 🙂

  37. Hi Harleena,

Very nice post! liked it very much.
you are right we should all be open to adapt changes if it is for our betterment…:)
I quite liked this one because it covered almost everything which is needed for healthy life. This is going to benefit me in many ways.Thank you for such a beautiful post..<3

    1. Hi Priyanka,

Glad you liked the post. 🙂

Yes indeed, if the change is for the good, accept it, and if it is not, try to change it, and if you cannot change it, then learn to adapt your life around it to make things work. The choice is always in your hand isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by, and for your kind words of appreciation. 🙂

  38. I agree with you in all aspects for being happy. Its a relative thing and its all in the head. Happiness is something that comes from within and not from outside. Also acceptance is important. One should accept what they are and try not to imitate someone they are not which is the source of many sorrows.

    1. Hi Shalu,

Yes indeed, being happy or unhappy is the state of mind you want to be in actually, and you can always choose either of the two.

Once you believe in yourself and your abilities, you wouldn’t imitate others. I guess some people lack self-confidence and that makes them act or copy others.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views 🙂

  39. Hi Harleena,

Indeed this quote above is very true. Even if you have all the money in the world, you can still suffer from misery. There are quite a few rich and famous people that are a testimony to this.

On the other hand, the other day I stumbled upon a documentary of a man who decided to leave all his processions behind and live in the forest barefoot surrounded only by animals and vegetation. He was happy as can be.

Both cases prove that happiness is an inside job, first and foremost. Then what ever lifestyle we choose to have is just a supplement to such happiness.

Thank you for another beautiful post.

    1. Hi Sylviane,

Ah…glad you liked that quote I made up 🙂

Absolutely! Money doesn’t buy you happiness, and even if it does, it’s short-lived. You can certainly be happy without money or even unhappy when you have it in abundance.

That sounds like the story of Lord Buddha, who did the same – being a King, he gave it all up and spent his life similarly till he attained enlightenment. It happens with the billionaires as we keep reading so often and how they give up everything to look for inner peace and happiness, which just proves this point, isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. 🙂

  40. Great post Harleena!

Regarding, Point 6 – Help Others. I think people may want to make sure they’re helping others because they want to do so. If you help others based on the assumption that you’ll “get” something, your help won’t work. Also, make sure you’re not helping others to fill a “void” within you. Many people like to help because they feel a need to be needed. Help for the sake of helping. 🙂

    1. Hi Amandah – nice to have you back 🙂

I agree with you there, helping others should be without expecting anything in return, more of a selfless service you do because you want to do it or feel like helping others in need, or even otherwise. The whole purpose of helping others is lost if you have some motive behind it.

Good point about the filling of the void too. If you are out to help, just go ahead and do it without any thoughts or without expecting anything in return.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. 🙂

  41. I think forgiveness is a key element to being happy. After 20 years as a therapist, I see all the same problems. Low self worth, fear and guilt, which really are all the same thing. I teach people to forgive everyday. As they get better so fast when they do this. It is so subtle they don’t even know that I am doing it.

    1. Hi Jodi,

That’s true, and I think when you forgive someone, you do yourself a big favor – not to mention that you feel so much lighter and better. 🙂

Being a therapist, I’m sure you’d be getting a lot of such cases, and this one major factor needs to be conveyed to people. Just let go of things that you can’t control. Life is too short to live with regrets – have a big heart and learn to forgive and forget. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us 🙂

    2. I so identify with this comment on the value of forgiving in relation to happiness. When I hold on to resentment it’s as if I am renting space in my head to the person I am unwilling to forgive. It’s akin to drinking poison.

      Thanks,

      I love this article.

  42. Referring to your suggestion “Just Be Yourself”; that`s all we are missing by mimicking our favorite media persons which brings no long term happiness.

    1. Welcome to my blog Ethan!

That’s true – we do try to imitate others, whether it’s a media person or anyone else we want to be like. It could be because we want to please others, or we just like their personality more than ours. But that doesn’t bring real happiness, perhaps just temporary.

Learning from others is alright, but we need to have our own voice and standing in life. Soon enough, people start liking you for who and what you are, isn’t it?

BTW – It would be nice if you use a Gravatar so that we can see who we are talking to. Just a friendly suggestion.:)

  43. Hi Harleena,

Really an amazing post. I read your articles so many times but this is awesome. I found so many life styles to be happy in my life.

    Great thanks for u.

    1. Welcome to my blog Sunny!

Glad you like the post. Ah…I didn’t know you’ve been reading my articles, and hope you liked them too. Yes, being happy is a state of mind, just as I keep saying so often, and there are many ways you can achieve that, isn’t it?

      Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

BTW – It would be nice if you use a Gravatar, as I see your profiles have a nice picture of yours, so that we can see who we are talking to. Just a friendly suggestion.:)

  44. Hi Mam,
I like the point #3 and #6. We have to learn to forgive and forget the bad things happened in our life. If we have short term memory loss, it will be better i think. Nowadays, most of the person thought that, having more money lead to a good life. Money itself never satisfy our needs, may be it can satisfy outer thing, but mentally we have to learn forgive, forget, love others, help others, learn to give etc… Thanks for sharing this awesome post mam. I already told you that, sharing is caring, so i do share.

    1. Hi Nirmal,

Yes indeed, learning to forgive and forget is the only way we can move ahead with our life and let go of our miseries that tend to burden us otherwise.

Money we all need, but we don’t have to overdo things or struggle too hard to earn lots of it. You need to ask yourself, how much is really enough? How much do you need? How much would satisfy you and make you happy? Tough questions I know, but they help you to understand that it’s certainly not the start and end of being happy. Having enough is alright, other than that, take out time to live a good life by being with your loved ones, helping others, etc.

Thanks for stopping by, and I do appreciate your constant support – yes, sharing is caring. 🙂

  45. Dear Harleena,

I so agree with you that happiness is not about money! It was interesting to read this fact, which supports that: “Some studies even show a saturation point to the happiness that comes from money.”

Love, kindness, sharing – I think these are all qualities that lead to a good life in addition to simply being present to each moment.

    1. Welcome to my blog Sandra – good to have you over 🙂

It certainly is not, though some people tend to think it is, which made me write this post. Yes, just like we reach a point in life when we can take no more of some thing, it’s the same with earning or spending money, which isn’t what helps us lead a good life.

Absolutely! Life is all about enjoying each precious moment and living right now, with love and understanding with each other.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with us 🙂

  46. Hi Harleena Singh
Compassion. Gratitude. Conscientiousness. Being humble. A little stress to keep you energized and motivated. Using common sense. Hanging out with the people that are doing healthy things. Having a stable relationship.
thanks for sharing.hope you have a nice day.

    1. Hi Addison,

Ah…you surely said it all in your comment – that’s all we need to live a worthy and meaningful life, isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a nice day as well 🙂

  47. Harleena,

What a very insightful post. So many great key points. One thing that really stood out to be in regards to happiness that you made was “Life is good for those who believe it is”. For me, happiness is a mindset. There is not any amount of money that can truly make you happy. Many people chase the dollar only to to find out later in life that they still are not content.

I think true happiness and contentment has a lot to do with figuring out what brings us joy in life and then pursuing those things. Having that sense of fulfillment kind of puts everything else in perspective.

    1. Welcome to my blog Nathaniel!

Glad you liked the post and could relate so well to it 🙂

Absolutely! Being happy is a state of mind, and life is truly good for those who think positive and believe it is – it all comes down to your belief and choice, isn’t it?

I agree about the money part and perhaps that’s why you have so many millionaires who make money life long, but once realization strikes, they just give it all up because it’s real happiness they seek, which you cannot get only from money.

It would depend largely on what your definition of happiness is too – for some it is money, but I wonder how long would they really be happy earning it, and to question – are they really living in the moment, are they really living a real life and enjoying it to the fullest – some questions they need to ask themselves. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with us. 🙂

  48. Hi,

Few days before you taught me how to stay focused on our goal and now you taught me how to lead a good and happy life. Apart from blogger, are you a councilor ? 😀 You keep inspiring me and many others constantly 🙂
I completely agree that moving slowly and smartly can really help us taste happiness and eventually lead a happy life. It’s said ‘ Hurry Burry spoils the curry’ and I think it is 100% true 🙂

What I do is I try to find and understand what makes me happy. Everyone has unique requirements for attaining happiness and what makes one person happy may be very different from what makes someone else happy.

As you said, Passion and keeping positive attitude through out would eventually make us happy and in turn we’ll lead a good life 🙂

Thanks for this motivational article. Keep writing, I’ll be around 🙂

    1. Hi Sourav,

Well, thank you for your kind words, though I am no one to teach anyone anything – certainly not a counselor…lol…:)

But yes, what I feel, experience and think, I love to share with everyone with the hope that it helps them in more ways than one. Yes, slow and steady wins the race, and even if you don’t win, it’s the journey that you need to enjoy by slowing down your pace. Work smart and not hard as they say, though most of us work the other way round, isn’t it?

I agree with you there – the definition and criteria of happiness would differ from person to person. I don’t look for happiness actually, because it lies within us and is a state of mind. If you want to be happy, you can just this instance, by just thinking positive, looking ahead, and being grateful for all that you have in life.

Thanks for stopping by and your lovely words. Glad this post could help. 🙂

  49. Hi Harleena,

I feel happy to read your nice post again! To be honesty, I am not happy with the life i am living, i always think business and money is the most important in my life, so i feel tired and i am sorry for my little child. In fact, i agree your point that happiness depends on one’s state of mind and the nature of thoughts, not money, thanks for sharing 15 ways to lead a good life, i will try this and live better.

    Sincerely
    Franco

    1. Hi Franco,

Good to see you, and I am glad you got a Gravatar finally 🙂

I don’t think anyone is completely happy with the life they live because they all have big or small problems. But we can keep trying to lead a good life by following the above ways to make it a better one, isn’t it?

As you mentioned the problem, that in your case you do think about business and money and feel sorry that perhaps you spend to much time working to earn money, so aren’t able to devote time for your child. So, you also know the solution to this problem, isn’t it?

Start reducing your work load, and even if you earn a little less, it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, what do you value more? Money or your child and family? It’s a choice you have to make. If you are earning for them, wouldn’t you want to spend time with the ones you love? What use would be that money if they aren’t in your life or you aren’t there to give them part of yourself.

I would love you to read a related story I had written about a father who had no time, perhaps you’d be able to relate and understand it all better – https://www.aha-now.com/the-father-who-had-no-time/

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your experiences with us 🙂

  50. Thanks Harleena for writing on a topic that is niche of me, you and all. It relates to life. It relates to humanity.

Your third point is worth quoting “Learn to forget and forgive”. It is human nature that we forget good and remember bad. Though we should think other way round and forget all the bitterness of our past and hope to have a great future. Similarly we want everyone forgive us for our any kind of wrongdoing but hardly agree to forgive others and keep repeating what someone has done against us. But we don’t know that by following this way of thinking we actually harm ourselves. With a lot of grievances and complains in our heart and mind we can’t focus our goals and nor we can do something great in our life.

If we look around most of the successful people have a never-ending smile on their face because they forget bitter and remember sweet which reflects on their face and mind both. People with nothing to show as their success always keep complaining of adverse conditions, hurdles, problems, bad attitude of their colleagues and they finish themselves just by giving lame excuses to their failure story.

I think happiness in life largely depends upon three things in our life. How we think, how we act and how we live. It all depends upon our thinking how we take life. I remember a story I heard in my childhood from my grandma. Once upon a time a beggar became king because of a lucky draw. His ex fellow then asked him how is life he replied earlier he had to worry for two-time meal now his worries expanded to two-time meals of the whole population. So it depends upon how we live.

How we act means we should not try to be exceptional kind of person like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs. They guys were borne to do what they did. So we should just do whatever is possible for us and never try to go beyond this. In blogging just look around only those are enjoying who are not trying to cross their limits in every thing from writing to optimizing they are just staying in limit to move slowly and gradually. So this attitude is must to be stay happy in life.

How we spend is also very important. Many people live in crowd but remain alone in their heart and mind. On the contrary many people live like hermit but have huge following. Just take the example of Lord Budha he spent most of his life in meditation and in isolation but just see the number of his following all over the world.

I repeated almost all the points you mentioned in your post but in a little different way as I take them. But it doesn’t mean your post needs any elaboration. It is perfect one and only because of reading it I could have written my comments here just to share my views with you and your blog audience.

Once again thanks a lot, stay happy and pray for success and happiness for all around us.

    1. Hi MiMuba,

Wow! Love the mini-post comment 🙂

Glad you liked the post and could relate to it so well. You are so right about remembering the bad and forgetting the good, though we need to let go of the bad, isn’t it?

Yes, we want to be forgiven instantly, but we aren’t ready to forgive others, and this stops us from progressing in life. We prefer carrying the burden all through life with us, and when we realize our mistake, it’s often too late.

Successful people don’t worry much about emotions or they don’t let them affect their work efficiency. That’s their secret to success. People who have nothing to do and waste time will never stop complaining of others or finding faults with them, or crying over their failures. They mostly think of the negative and even try to pull you down with their negative thoughts. We need to stay away from them, if we can’t change their thought process.

Letting go is the key I would say. Life is too short to keep bitter memories within us. If someone has harmed you or hurt us, we need to remember that it’s their karma, not ours. Why spoil ours for what they feel, say, or do? We need to rise above and think ahead. 🙂

Yes indeed, happiness IS our state of mind, and just as I mentioned in the post and the comments above, we can be as happy or unhappy as we want. The choice is always in our hand. Within a second an unhappy person can become happy or vice versa, just by their thoughts. It is all in the mind as I always keep saying. Nice story too with a good lesson.

I agree about not trying to be like others, and those people you mentioned have achieved success and perhaps doing what they do now as their way of giving back to the society. We all have our own way of living and doing things. Yes, in blogging too, doing everything isn’t possible for any one blogger. Slow and steady does it, and it all takes time. Nor should bloggers run only after money or achieving overnight success. Often times, those who run too fast are known to fall soon too. So, hold on – success comes to those who wait.

So true, and those who live alone must not be liking the life they lead, nor would those who live like hermits, just cutting off from the rest of the world. I think they create walls around them that no one can enter, nor can they come out of their self-built shells.

I think living a good life is all about mixing and matching it all up, everything in moderation is good. Just take life as it comes and live it fully. Don’t go about stressing yourself to do things that are not in your hands, you’d just overwhelm yourself.

I enjoyed reading your lovely comment MiMuba and appreciate you for taking out the time to write such a heartfelt one.

Thanks so much for your wonderful contribution to the post. Wishing you every success and happiness in life as well 🙂

  51. Hi Harleena,
I just landed again here after reading a post from Bishal’s page, where you and your page have been mentioned.
Oh! this is yet another life giving tips post to your readers 🙂
I just had a glance to the points, and will surely comeback with my elaborate feedback later today.
May you have a wonderful and profitable day today. 🙂
    Good Wishes
    ~ Philip

    1. Hi Philip,

Is that so? I wonder which one was that – must have been an old one as he usually messages whenever he mentions me. Sweet boy, and amazes me how he’s coming up as a blogger.

No worries at all, take your time to go through the post whenever you can. I too shall stop by soon.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a nice day as well 🙂

  52. Wow! Amazing article… “Forgive & forget” has been the key for me… Although (really) very difficult at times, it does pay!

    1. Welcome to my blog Preeti!

Yes indeed, it’s certainly not easy to forgive and forget, though if we do that, more than anyone else, we do ourselves a great favor. It does bring us peace, happiness, and inner freedom instantly, and we feel so much lighter and better, isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by, and I am glad you liked the post too 🙂

  53. Hi Harleena,
Once again I am blessed by your wisdom through this post. The subject I believe is timely as too many tend to equate having a lot of money to happiness and to lead a good life. That could not be further from the truth and just as you pointed out ‘money is not the sole criteria for happiness and a good life.

We live in a world that is fast paced and driven by materialism – the idea of looking good in the eyes of others have definitely overshadowed being good on the inside that speaks really to ones heart and their character. I have said that to make this next point that the focus should really be on the intangible things such as having the right thoughts, the right mind and thinking and having the right attitude. It’s about being positive and optimistic about life itself.

Another good way to lead a good life and a happy, healthy life is by cultivating gratitude among us and expressing it in everything. I am an advocate for gratitude – the more we give thanks for what we have, the more we realize how gratitude unlocks the fullness of life thus allowing our blessings to find their way into our lives.

Finally, we have to learn to let got of our fears, and if not, it is one of the things that becomes a major hindrance to leading a good, happy and healthy life.

    1. Hi Yvonne,

Thank you for your kind words. 🙂

That is exactly how I felt too, seeing the way most people run after money, which to a certain extent is important. But is it really worth it that we forget to live a worthy and meaningful life?

We do live in a world where people just don’t have time to reach out and connect with others due to their busy lives. And they do this most of the time to earn money, though in the process they forget to enjoy life’s little moments that just pass by so quick.

Yes, some people tend to put up a false face or try to be someone who they really aren’t, so that they can become good in other people’s eyes. But in the process they lose out on being their own true selves. I agree with you totally, that’s where our focus should be, and it’s all in our positive mindset, isn’t it?

Gratitude makes us complete I feel, though I wish more people would learn to be grateful for the smallest of things He’s given us in our life. The more we give, the more we receive, and it comes in all forms and ways, but we don’t see it at times.

Letting go of our fears is the key to move forward, without which you really can’t progress. Yes, it takes a little push, but it works if you try it out.

Thanks for stopping by and adding more value to the post. 🙂

  54. Harleena,

These are very awesome tips for sure! I personally think before we can lead a good life, we must be happy with ourselves first. Next we need to be happy with those we choose to have in our life. If both of those are accomplished, I believe a good life can be had. I believe life is what we make of it and if you want to act like a jerk, chances are you will have a bad life. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

    Great post!

    1. Hi Bren,

      Glad you liked them. 🙂

Yes indeed, if we are happy within, finding happiness around and in our life would be easy. I agree, if the choice is in our hand, we would surely need to find happy people to be with, especially if it’s a spouse! Life would be real bliss, isn’t it? 😉

Exactly! Life is what we make of it, and the choices are always in our hand to go whichever direction we want to, good or bad, take your pick.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your two worthy cents with us. 🙂

  55. Harleena,

What a pleasant and happy article to read. I have often heard the saying “If you have your health, you have everything” and boy this is so true. I try to wake up every day and be thankful for this gift. Everything else will be okay!

    1. Hi Sheryl,

Glad you liked the post. 🙂

Yes indeed, health is our real wealth because when we are healthy we can live a good life and keep moving forward. It truly is a blessing and we need to be thankful for it and the wonderful life He’s given us.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with us 🙂

  56. Hi Harleena

There is a famous saying which states Happiness is in the Journey and not the destination. While this may sound cliched the fact is that we are always trying to “look” for happiness in things, people and situations. While all this is important, true happiness comes from within. Once you have discovered who you are as an individual, happiness will become your natural state. You wont have to look external. You wont have to try and become happy. You will be happiness yourself!.

    1. Welcome to my blog Vipin!

Yes, and I love that one too because it is so true. It’s the journey and not the destination that is the most enjoyable part of living a good life.

I agree, we often look for happiness in other people or things, but it’s all within us, we just need to find it by going within. Not everyone understands this fact, though I wish they would. It would make them so much happier all the time, isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us 🙂

BTW – It would be nice if you can get a Gravatar so that we can see who we are talking to, as I see you have a wonderful picture of yours on your blog. Just a friendly suggestion 🙂

  57. Hello Maam,
I truly agree with your above stated points. Money can’t get us everything. It’s the good relationship which binds us together so that we can live a happier life. After all every blog even survives on the basis of relationship. The blogger who maintains a good relationship with its readers gets good quality traffic otherwise nowadays people are just commenting for backlinks.

I really like the way you write your articles by adding inspirational quotes in between.

Thanks for this ultimate share 🙂

    1. Hi Nikhil,

Absolutely! Money is not the start and end of living a good life and being happy. There is so much more to life, which starts with bonding with your loved ones, nurturing your relationships, and loving each other, and so much more.

Yes indeed, talking of bloggers – some of them come over for backlinks and not for building relationships, and they don’t realize that without connecting with each other, you cannot really go ahead.

You know I love quotes and spend a lot of time looking for the right ones to go with my posts. I think they add more meaning to the post, isn’t it?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us 🙂

  58. Hi Harleena!

You know that I had to read this post about a happy and good life right? Great title! And I think you covered just about everything that is really really important. The only thing I would have to say is have fun and laugh more! We humans are so very serious. 🙂 Taking time to play, have fun and smile is so very important.

Thanks for these great reminders! ~Kathy

    1. Hi Kathy,

Yes, I knew you would, and also knew you’d share your pearls of wisdom with us 🙂

That is SO true, to laugh, smile, and have more fun, just as I’d mentioned in the post, something that most of us tend to forget, and that includes me too.

I think we get so involved in our daily affairs and take life too seriously to even think about smiling or laughing, which we need to lighten and brighten our lives.

Thanks for the wonderful reminder, and have a nice week ahead 🙂

  59. Hey Harleena,

Again a post which can bring revolution.

It’s amazing to read such type of aspects related to our real life. We all are engaged with our work so much that we don’t have time to spend for us, our family. The points you have mentioned to lead a good life are worthy to follow.

Few years ago I was also having the problem to pretend anyone who is not even part of my own. I used to think about pleasing others. But with the time I got the point to be yourself. It feels good when we do any work at our own way. We speak in our own accent. There is nothing good to copy any other person. Being yourself is what we all need to learn.

Thanks for reminding me again to be determined.
    Have a great day. 🙂

    ~Ravi

    1. Hi Ravi,

Ah…thank you for saying that 🙂

I agree with you there, life IS busy and each person you meet is forever busy in his or her. I see the same case in my house, with my family, and I too say this so many times. But we don’t realize the valuable moments of life that we lose when we remain so busy, which could have been spend with our loved ones.

The time once lost never returns, so lead a good life by making the best of it. Yes, work we all have to do, but we need to divide our work in such a way that we have time for pleasure too, isn’t it?

I think most people go through that phase, especially when they start initially, speaking of bloggers, when they try to imitate others because they don’t know their way about, and perhaps a little of it is alright too till they find their feet. But to carry on with it and become who you aren’t actually will hinder your growth and progress, and you won’t be able to carry on with it for long.

Yes, your own way is the best way, no matter what it is. People start recognizing you by your voice and you just need to feel confident and proud of who you are.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your experiences with us. 🙂

  60. Harleena, You have done it again! An excellent post.

Living a good happy life is easy. As long as you don’t measure your life on the amounts of money you make, as so many do, you will live happy.

The reason I believe that we are all here on earth is to love. It is as simple as that. With this mindset we become aware of those little things in life that bring us such joy. When we are giving our thoughts or actions to others, we are doing what God wants us to do…It all comes down to love.

When we have this in us, it is easy to forgive and forget, to accept others as they are. It sure is more peaceful living this way.

Knowing that we cannot be perfect is another great point. We can drive ourselves into a hole doing that and never get anywhere.

Being ourselves is one of the points that you have brought out that is imperative. If we try to be like someone else, it is so transparent. If we find it difficult to be ourselves, then it is time to do some soul searching. For if we cannot love ourselves, how can we love others?

My favorite of all is never stop learning! Being online every day is such a blessing. I’m constantly learning new things and it keeps me motivated. It is exciting for me to always be learning, not only things I read, but also learning just about anything that is in my path.

I recently moved and there was a lot of adaptation I had to make. Also learning my surroundings and what different vegetation was growing, what animals and birds there were around me. I’m loving it!

As usual, this is an awesome post my friend!

    -Donna

    1. Hi Donna,

Well, thank you for your kind words 🙂

Absolutely! If you just try to be happy with what all you have, rather than comparing what others have or what you don’t have, you can easily lead a good life ahead.

You are so right in saying that – it all starts and ends with love simply, just as you mentioned. And when you proceed with that positive mindset, you can never go wrong. It’s sad though to see some people don’t think on these same lines and are after money and would follow all kinds of ways and means to earn it, without realizing what they are doing to their life.

I think we do ourselves a favor when we learn to let go, forgive, and forget. The peace and happiness such acts bring is amazing, isn’t it? Or else you just live a burdened life and never learn to let go, thus never move forward in your life.

I don’t think anyone can be perfect, and to putting in all of you just to be a perfect person would not be right also because you lose out on life’s precious moments in the perfection you seek.

Very true – love yourselves first before you can move ahead to love others, and that happens only when you become who you really are without trying to imitate someone else. Have your own voice and stand in life, and people will love you for that, not trying to be someone else, which you can’t become for long, even if you try.

Ah…learning never ends, isn’t it? Like you, I learn such a lot visiting so many blogs and reading so much matter online. It surely is a blessing and I can just thank the Almighty for this good life he’s given us where we are able to do all this.

I know about your moving and you are living in such a pretty place. Adapting and making adjustments are great ways that help you grow, and I think you are just doing that, besides the fact that you are really enjoying yourself being in nature too. Wish I was living in a similar place too 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and adding so much more to the post by sharing your wise words with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

  61. Hi,

Waw, enjoyed this post and learn some good ideas, I would to add those in my routine to make more happy life. 100% true, We can’t buy all happiness in our life through money. Time when we spend our family, friends. We never buy such happiness moments through money. I follow two things first one think positive and second one forget and forgive.

Reading this post worth more for me 🙂

    Thanks
    Jyoti

    1. Welcome to my blog Jyoti – good to have you over 🙂

Glad you liked the post and could learn something from it. Yes, if a little change can make our lives better and bring us happiness, then we should bring about those changes, isn’t it?

That’s true – money can never buy us happiness. All it does is provide little pleasures, though we do need it for our basic needs. Yet people run after money and forget the real value of living a worthy life that’s beyond money and status.

You are doing the right things – to forgive and forget as that way you don’t carry any burden within your heart, you are a free soul and remain happy. And thinking positive, that’s how you move ahead in life.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views with us 🙂

  62. Hi Harleena mam,

Thanks a ton for such a beautiful post. I love every element of leading life fullest literally.

We should keep the pace with life and whatever be the condition we should stay positive and calm towards life.

Love the life as it is coming is the obscure task but we can do if we really want to remain happy and healthy from physically and from heart and soul as well.

You are best needless to add. I am immense thankful to you for presenting such a nice post before us.

    1. Hi Shiwangi,

You are most welcome, and so glad you liked it too 🙂

I believe in that too – to live life to the fullest, though sometimes we get so caught up with work and other things that we miss out on the precious moments of life that just pass by so fast.

Keeping in pace is required, but we shouldn’t overdo it and need to slow down and take time to live in the present, isn’t it? I agree with you there – just live life the way it comes forth, though keep putting in your best each day. My Mom used to say that you sleep in peace when you know you have done your best for the day, something that I do, though I hardly sleep much, which I should…lol…

Thank you for saying that, and you all inspire me to keep writing. Appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. 🙂

  63. Hi Harleena,

An excellent and very convincing style of conveying that happiness lies in our hearts and minds…it is achieved with our own efforts! It reminds me about the story of that king who fell sick and could not be cured by any of his wise doctors. At last, to pass off the responsibility, one of them told him to wear the shirt of a Happy man to get well and all the kings men went far and wide to look for a happy man, came back empty handed, went again and found a person who was laughing his heart out! he was asked the reason for his laughter and he said he was happy BUT guess what? Yes!! you are right! He did not have a shirt!

I must have read this story as a young student but that is still engraved in my heart! Happiness is just a state of mind, just the belief, just a way of life…it has got no connection with money, fame or status.
If we think we are happy…we will be! we will find the ways!

Thanks for a lovely thought, articulated so well! Wishing you all the happiness and another nice day.

    1. Hi Balroop,

Yes indeed, happiness is actually the state of our mind – we can be happy whenever we like. The source of happiness lies within us, as you mentioned in our hearts and minds. 🙂

Loved that story and thanks for sharing it with us. It just shows what I was trying to convey through the post too. I agree, certain stories leave their mark because they teach us such valuable lessons of life, just as this one did.

Honestly speaking, we do need money, but that isn’t the only thing that brings us happiness. Even if it does, I think it’s very short lived, or the rich would always be happy, but they are not. Yes, you can be as happy as you want or as unhappy, the choice is always in your hand.

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words of appreciation. Appreciate your addition to the post, as always. Have a lovely day ahead as well, and always be happy 🙂

  64. Hi Harleena,
What an excellent post! In fact, some of the points you mentioned today, are also some of my points for my next post coming up this week.

For example, making a ritual to learn something new every day, not trying to be perfect, are some of the most important aspects of becoming successful.

You have listed some great points about making our lives a masterpiece!

Thank you for sharing. Have a great rest of the week!

    Regards,
    Kumar

    1. Hi Kumar,

That’s a wonderful coincidence, and glad you liked the post too 🙂

I think if we keep our channels of learning open and make it a habit to pick up something new we would only increase our knowledge and learning power that would lead us to success. No one is really perfect and we shouldn’t try to be perfect too, though keep trying to get better – anything in small bits leads us to a good life and achieve happiness.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us. Have a nice week as well 🙂

  65. Hi Harleena,

Great tips for leading a good life and being happy. i really like this, “Take out time from your busy life to create memories. They are the only things that remain with you, nothing else. Don’t forget to criticize less and appreciate more.”

Yes, instead of worrying about what you don’t have, but appreciating what you do have makes for a happier life.

Every day is a journey to enjoy and many times people are to worried about tomorrows to enjoy the day they are in.

Slow down is another point you bring out. I totally agree with you. People are so busy these days that they forget to build those memories and enjoy the minutes, hours and days.

Thank you for the reminder and on that note I am going to enjoy all the happiness in this day that lays before me.:)

Wishing you a beautiful full happy day,
    Debbie

    1. Hi Debbie,

Glad you liked the tips and could relate to them. 🙂

Yes indeed, we tend to go after what we don’t have and don’t value what we do have in our lives. If we spend more time in appreciating all that life’s given us, we would be so much happier, isn’t it?

Living each day to it’s fullest, that’s something we all need to do, though we get so caught up in the busy lives we lead that we forget to enjoy the precious moments that just pass us by. And when we realize all the time we’ve lost, it’s often too late.

Ah…slowing down, that sure was a reminder for me too, which I keep planning to do, but it just doesn’t happen. But I do take care to make memories and capture the little moments of life by being with my loved ones, though I need to do a lot more in that regard.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your pearls of wisdom with us. Have a great day ahead as well 🙂

  66. Harleena,

I believe to live a meaningful life is to love, give, forgive, accept and value others, be satisfied with what you have and always give thanks.

Money can’t buy you a meaningful life. You could be the richest person and also be the most miserable person. And you could be the poorest person but live the most rewarding, fulfilled and meaningful life.

I grew up in Jamaica. My family were very poor. But we were extremely happy. Although we didn’t have much, we had love. There is nothing better than sharing love with each other. And appreciation. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this thought-provoking post.

    Have a great week. 🙂

    1. Hi June,

Absolutely! You said it all first line I would say – the perfect definition of living a good and meaningful life 🙂

I agree with you there, money can’t buy you happiness, though we do need a little to sustain ourselves and live our lives. But how much is too much or how do you reach a satisfaction level is tough to decide because people keen wanting more in life, isn’t it? Being rich doesn’t mean you are a happy person, and you could be the happiest person without any riches too – just as we see so many poor around us who are happy with their lives but keep working and living it through.

That’s it! When you have love, understanding, care, togetherness, you are the richest person I would say – certainly not poor. It actually is all a state of mind that makes you enjoy your life – no matter what the situation.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your experiences with us. Have a nice week ahead as well 🙂

    1. Hi Debarpan,

Yes, that’s true. Having a positive attitude towards life can lead you to living a good life, and that would bring happiness to your life too. They are so connected with each other, aren’t they?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your views 🙂
