Do you know that stress is killing you? It impacts both, your body and mind.

Stress affects your complete health and well-being. It hijacks your happiness and torments your life as well.

Stress is like an invisible demon that lurks around you, all the time! You need to get rid of this stress to lead an easy and happy life.

While some stress might be good for you to get things done and progress, excessive stress can cause damage and be devastating to your life.

It can lead to many lifestyle diseases like hypertension, heart disease, and even diabetes – the silent killer!

The only thing that can save you is the art of easing or letting go off stress, and the skill of managing stress to not let it cause harm to you.

You may even term stress management as one of the basic and essential skills required for you to survive in today’s world.

It’s all about “Survival of the fittest”, and learning the ways to relieve stress will definitely help you to be fit enough to survive in today’s world.

For more in-depth information on stress, its causes and effects, you should read an earlier post on Aha!NOW – What Stress Signs Do You Have?

Relieve Stress Using The STRESS Reliever Formula

Coping with stress is the pre-requisite skill that every individual should learn. Here is an easy and mnemonic way to learn the steps to reliving stress and managing it for a better life.

My stress reliever formula to remember is STRESS. It stands for:

S – Stop and identify the source

T – Think positive and be realistic

R – Rest and use relaxation techniques

E – Exercise and entertain yourself

S – Sleep well and be in the sunlight

S – Share your worries and use the senses

There are so many tips and ways to relieve stress on the web, but I think this STRESS formula makes it easy to remember the basics of dealing with stress. Don’t you think so? 🙂

Let’s discuss each of these steps of the stress reliever formula.

Stress written with sad and happy men on its ends.

STEP 1 Stop and identify the source

a) Stop – The first thing you need to do is take a break. It is important for you to get away from stressful situations or the stress triggers, if possible.

Taking a break would give you some respite, and an opportunity to assess yourself. It also gives you time to reanalyze the stressful situation from different perspectives.

While in a stressful situation, avoid an instant or quick reaction. You may not be always able to avoid stress, but you can change the way you react to it.

b) Identify the source What is the cause of your stress? Is it just a baseless and unreasonable anxiety or are there any accountable stress triggers?

If you know what is causing you stress, then you can either sort the stressor or yourself, or avoid the particular stressor, if possible and as applicable.

“When you’re dealing with stress, the problem may not be the stressful situation, as much as the effort to avoid that situation and the feelings it arouses.” ~ Ted A. Grossbart

STEP 2 Think positive and be realistic

a) Think Positive Under stress, it is possible that you might think of negative situations and outcomes.

You can counter them by making a habit to force yourself to think positive in such situations and gain self-control.

By thinking positive you may also trigger your brain to counter or reduce the production of stress hormones.

Being positive increases the chance of resolving stressful situations easily and quickly.

b) Be Realistic – When under stress, avoid jumping to conclusions or making unrealistic assumptions, and employ temperance.

Temperance is moderation or avoiding excesses.

Even under stress, try to be in control, balance your mind, and avoid getting too dull or wild. Remember, stress is temporary and it shall pass, if you manage it in the right way.

“Sometimes when people are under stress, they hate to think, and it’s the time when they most need to think.” ~ William J. Clinton

STEP 3 Rest and use relaxation techniques

a) Rest – Stressful situations can be very upsetting, involve emotional and mental disturbances that can even take a toll on your body. This is the time that you should take rest.

The best way is to lie down or take a nap. You can even rest while sitting by practicing Transcendental meditation (TM).

TM is not a spiritual tool used for enlightenment by saints. It is a scientifically proven type of meditation that helps in reducing stress.

b) Use relaxation techniques – There are many relaxation therapies and techniques.

You can practice Yoga Nidra, use auto-suggestions, practice Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), or use any other relaxation technique.

You can even just practice any kind of meditation along with deep breathing exercises. Or just listen to music, take a walk, play with your pet, or do anything different from the usual to make you stress free.

You’ll feel relaxed and get temporary respite from stress.

“In times of great stress or adversity, it’s always best to keep busy, to plow your anger and your energy into something positive.” ~ Lee Iacocca

STEP 4 Exercise and entertain yourself

a) Exercise – A frail body may host a freak mind. In other words, to have a sound mind, you need to have a healthy body. For that, you need to exercise and eat healthy.

Stress is often the test of your mental toughness. You need to be physically fit in order to think sensibly and find solutions for your stress causes.

b) Entertain yourself – Being in stress does not mean that you have to burn yourself out or be tensed all the time.

This is the time when you need to find ways to entertain yourself to save yourself from any mental or emotional damage.

Watch a movie, go out for a party, play games, get busy with your hobby, or do anything that the time and situation allows you to do to release the happy hormones in your body.

“Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one.” ~ Hans Selye

STEP 5 Sleep well and be in the sunlight

a) Sleep well – Give your body its due full hours of continued sleep, which helps it to heal and revitalize.

Especially in stressful conditions, your mind needs rest and the best way to do that is to sleep.

If you are in a sexual relationship, then sex too can be a stress buster. Sexual activity releases hormones that not only make you feel relaxed but even induces deep sleep.

b) Be in the sunlight – Besides sleep, even sunlight helps you have a healthy body and mind.

Sunlight is a major source of Vitamin D in your body, and its deficiency can make you prone to anxiety and stress.

Especially in the countries of cold climate, lack of sunlight can also cause depression, which is called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). So, make it a point to sit or spend some time in the sunlight.

“Getting stress out of your life takes more than prayer alone. You must take action to make changes and stop doing whatever is causing the stress. You can learn to calm down in the way you handle things.” ~ Joyce Meyer

STEP 6 Share your worries and use the senses

a) Share your worries – Venting out your feelings is a part of emotional therapy that can heal you in times of stress.

Share your worries with your friends, family members, or your counselor. Prayer too is a way of sharing worries and releasing tension, so your emotions don’t rot and become negative.

You can even use the social activities or the social media network to release stress.

However, do not go overboard and make yourself vulnerable or get confused with the opinions and suggestions that you receive.

b) Use the senses This is the easiest way to tackle your stress. You can use your senses to divert your attention and put your mind, away from the stressful situation, in creative and useful situations.

You can also use the senses to relax and help in practicing mindfulness. Read this Aha!NOW post on how to use the senses to indulge in favorable and relaxing sensory experiences.

Poster showing a stressed man and a quote about happiness being a choice

These were the basic ways to relieve stress that you can do on your own and get results.

Stress sometimes can be very overwhelming and it is important to not resort to any bad ways of relieving stress.

Such ways could include alcoholism, getting addicted to caffeine or drugs, binge eating, pornography, and others.

Coping with stress is an art that you can learn to make your life easy and be happy. Here is another Aha!NOW post to help you know more ways to cope with stress.

Stress is a part of our life, and we got to live with it. Remember, stress is also defined by your reactions to the stimuli or situations.

You always have a choice.

If you can nicely deal with the stress, you’ll have a stress-free life, because you’ll not let it impact your life in a negative way.

Equip yourself with the skill of stress management and fearlessly face the stress.

“Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the keys to stress management, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life.” ~ Marilu Henner

  1. STRESS formula! really reat article on stress managment. every step elaborated is easy to understand and apply to. thanks for sharing sir!

  2. Hi Vinay,

As someone who has studied leadership styles, I understand how successful leaders use humor to reduce stress in their organization. These leaders know how a smile and well-timed joke or playful laughter can stimulate creativity and open lines of communication.

Funny enough, history is on their side. Consider this: smiles and laughter, scientists speculate, evolved as nonverbal way to cement alliances, signifying that an individual had no hostile intent.

Jump to the present and what do we have? Leaders of “non toxic” organizations understand that laughter sends a reassuring message: We’re all in this together. It signals trust and a shared vision of the world. Think about it. Don’t you laugh easily and often when you’re among friends?

Also, the laughter isn’t the result of some silly “canned joke” but often in response to a greeting, compliment, or everyday observations concerning life at home or the workplace.

In sum, there are many ways to reduce stress. I myself enjoy listening to music. That said, laughter is still one of the best ways to reduce stress. So, go ahead and laugh more.

  3. Hi Vinay,

I do believe very strongly that once you start thinking positive and start being realistic it relieves your stress. And you have very rightly said it and mentioned in your blog. I have implemented this at most of stages of my life and whenever I have started to be positive I just found al the burden and stress vanish in no time. I do exercise daily, which helps me a lot with my stress and plays a very important pasrt of my life. Thanks for sharing the tips.

  4. NO ONE chooses stress and anxiety in their lives. NO ONE chooses to be miserable. NO ONE chooses their lives to be beyond their control. Why do you think someone would CHOOSE to be miserable? These “feel good” 6,8,10,12 step, deep breathing, visualing and meditating techniques work if one is having a “bad day” not a miserable life, so quit making them feel worse by telling them they CHOSE to be that way.

    1. Accept it or not, your life is a result of the choices that your have made over a period. You unknowingly choose stress and make anxiety your trait. You become a victim of this negative habit and get addicted to your negative way of life. You have the choice to respond or not to a stressor, or respond in a positive manner. You always have the choice to not be miserable in life, or take yourself out of the misery. It all depends on your perspective and thought process. Wrong choices and habits can make your life go out of your control. Choose to adopt a positive life and way, and see the difference.

  5. Hey buddy,

I like your way of defining STRESS. It was very creative! 🙂

Indeed, everyone has experienced this, including me. When I am stressed, I usually work out and see scenery and enjoy it. I think maybe I was stressed because too often seeing computer screen..hehe

Enough sleep and well are great way to relieve stress. And share stories with your closest friends or family also work well. It works like magic!

    Thanks for sharing, Vinay.
    Have a great day!

  7. Hello Vinay Sir.
Thank You sir for providing a great technique to relieve stress. It is one of the best ways to overcome our stress. Even I do Transcendental Meditation(TM) and I must say it helps a lot. Plus other methods are also great way to overcome stress.
Thank You again Sir for the great post!!!

  8. Vinay,

Thanks for the very helpful and useful post.

To relax I find progressive muscle relaxation the most helpful technique and I have found it really useful to discover just how tense your muscles can be and not even be aware of it. I also tend to do it on a hard surface my body can adjust as it relaxes

I find the danger of this technique us that I get so relaxed that I fall asleep!

  9. Hi Vinay Kachhara,
What a nice and amazing post indeed.
What are great tips for reducing the physically or mentally stress.
Really while we start to follow these six useful things then we can avoid from the stress and can spent a healthy life.
Thanks for sharing….Please keep posting such article..

  10. Hi Vinay,

You come up with the best acronyms and simplistic formulas to help us bring the zen back! What is your creative process?! Thank you for another fantastic article.

  11. Howdy,
I like the way you go step by step forward in your article.
I mean your articles starts very normally but slowly and slowly your article goes all together to a different level.
Taking about this post I liked ‘Think positive and be realistic’,the most. As Its all about on us and on our way of thinking about view of life.
    Thanx for this post.
    Love it..!!

  12. I’ve found exercise to be the best ongoing, long-term strategy. But for immediate relief from unexpected stress – deep breathing exercises have been the most effective. Especially when combined with meditation.

  13. Great tips here. I am a strong believer that meditation and thinking through what is the core of the stress is key to finding relief. Rest is also crucial. I think a lot of people may stress more and become anxious because they choose to get caught up in things they have no control over. Once they identify and let go of that type of stress, life is so much better.

    Have a great week.

    Irish

  14. If that fails, and it’s really bad; sometimes I just have to resign myself to wait until I get some distance from the situation so I can see the lesson or the positive takeaway. This post offers wonderful solutions and I am glad you have compressed all the ways so well. Thanks for sharing.

  15. Hi Vinay .what should someone do to sleep early with sleeplessness. When I feel stress I go out to meet friends and I share my problems .it helps me calm down .

  16. Hi Vinay,

What an excellent post on stress management! I have learned that I can be stressed and not know it. So I learned to balance my life the best way I can by paying attention to how I spend my time and where.

I like the think positive and realistic point. Because unrealistic expectations on yourself and others can cause stress to everyone.

I take my six months old Rottweiler for walks in the morning and meditate while he runs around the dog park. It’s very relaxing.

Thanks for adding the Transcendental meditation link and for another great post.

  17. Hi Vinay,

It’s a good thing I’m reading this post. There has been a lot of stress in my family life lately and it’s been causing anxiety attacks. I know I should have remembered to stop and take a breather but it was my mother who was sick and at one point we could have lost her. With that, I lost all control of my emotions.

The one thing I have a hard time doing is talking about what’s going on. My mom would always tell me don’t go telling people about your troubles, keep it to yourself. Like when I just told you about my mom, it had second thoughts about typing that. I just keep hearing my mom’s voice :). But it is good to share and it explains why I have been quiet this past week. 🙂

I’m a huge fan of Valerie Bertinelli. I love this quote you shared thanks! And thanks for a great, helpful post. I hope those struggling with stress will read this and implement these tips.

    Have a great new week.

  18. Hi Vinay Sir,

An extremely relevant post. In today’s world when we all are dealing with some sort of stress, be it personal or professional; your post is just awesome. The most important point of dealing with stress is to identify the source of it.

Most of the time we try to deal with stress without understanding the root cause. Whereas identifying the problem helps to eliminate the issue from the root.

Thanks for the great share, as always compassionate and helpful. Have an awesome day ahead!

  19. Best stress relieve formula I have found here on this post. Yeah I do agree with you. Once you start thinking positive and start being realistic it relieves too much stress. Personally, I’ve implemented this at most of stages of my life and whenever I implemented this and start thinking positive I just found my self very comfortable and without any burden.
No doubt exercise plays an important role to relieve stress.

Thanks for sharing great formula with us!

  20. Hi Vinay

Love your approach to relieving stress. I even found it to be relaxing as I was reading it. While all the suggestions are useful, my favourite ones are #2 and #3.

It is very important to keep a positive outlook on life while remaining realistic.

A good R&R will certainly take care of and remove stress. We are living in a fast paced world and it is important that we take care of ourselves through all of these different ways.

Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.

  21. I love acronyms, and you’ve created a great one about how to relieve stress!

I don’t stress anymore. I used to. Then I realized I was only hurting myself and my state of happiness.

I’ve learned to have a “let it go” policy. When I find myself starting to feel a bit stressed, I take a deep breath and release it. I let the negatives leave my body. I let it go.

Deep breathing helps, as you said. Meditations techniques work!

  22. Hi Vinay,

Your timing is perfect! I had a very stressful situation on the job today and for the life of me, I could not shake the anger or stress. I usually can take a breath or two and meditate to shake it, but today’s stress was too much. It’s now 5 hours later and instead of feeling stress and anger, I just want to break down and cry it out.

The steps you share above are perfect imo and techniques that everyone should use. I’m going to pass this along to my friends and family in hopes they can find a way to relieve themselves.

Thank you for sharing this with us. You and Harleena have a fabulous week!

  23. Hi Vinay,

  24. Hello Vinay,

Wonderful post about how to relieve stress. Stress relieve formula proposed by you is practical and will help worried souls like us 🙂
Although, I might be already practicing some of these steps, I need to focus more on keeping myself destressed!

    Keep on sharing!

  25. Hi Vinay

Very true; first of all one has to find the actual reasons of his stress. Many times people point at a wrong reason because they see the apparent reason. Fear of failure may be a reason but his actual concern is the outcome of failure one has to face.

Many strugglers just in a bid to follow the great people of their field forget the fact all successful people had achieved success not in get-set-go but put a major part of their life to be there where they are now.

So a balanced life is the best remedy to spend stress free life. Yes physical remedies like exercise, rest and pleasure have their own significance.

Once a person adopts a healthy life style then positive thoughts come into his by themselves because a healthy body always bring on a health mindset.

Thanks a lot for sharing this very purposeful post.

  26. Hi Vinay,

As I read through your post what immediately came to mind was that what you’re describing in your formula is balance. That most vague and elusive concept.

I’d like to add a little to step 2, think positive, if I may. I think the idea of thinking positive can be seen as a little unrealistic or delusional by some, if it’s not approached carefully.

For me personally, when I’m facing a perceived negative situation I try to focus on any part of the existing situation that I can perceive as being positive. There’s always something I can be grateful for and the situation can almost always be worse.

If that fails, and it’s really bad; sometimes I just have to resign myself to wait until I get some distance from the situation so I can see the lesson or the positive takeaway.

And on sharing worries. This is huge. It’s really powerful to just let that stuff out! Once we get it out of our heads and let someone else see it, it loses it’s power.

Also writing helps if there’s nobody immediately available. Just get it onto paper so it can stare back at you and give you the chance to see how ridiculous it really is. Thanks for the post.

  27. Hi Harleena,

This is a great article. My biggest issue is that I don’t get enough sleep, ever. I knew I didn’t sleep well. Did a sleep study and everything. Even bought a Fitbit to keep track of my sleeping hoping to improve. I understand very clearly that sleeping can help relieve some of the stress we feel. I don’t ever seem to get that. Right now I don’t know how to work that so I deal with other stress relievers but sleeps is a physical aspect that I need to work.

This is a great article as we have all kinds of stress in our lives and hardly recognize what stress is. Using relaxation techniques and making sure I take time to wind down at night helps me with my stress. In addition, my dancing and music are my serious stress relievers.

I’d like to add one more….take vacations. People are so caught up in work and school and family that we never take time for ourselves. Having come back from Punta Cana, I can’t tell you how important it is for that type of stress relief.

Anyway, thanks for the reminders. Very helpful.

Thanks for sharing this important information.

  28. Hi Vinay Sir,

    Excellent post indeed 🙂
Stress make a man too dump because when you are in stress first of all your brain stop working and you dont have any idea what you should have to do or not. So we should live stress free. But it is not so easy as we say but as you cleared in your post, make it so easy to live stress free.
I am agree with you that you should stop thinking about the issue but you should find out that why this issue is created. and never be negative is a great weapon to live healthy and stress free.
Overall its a great and motivation post.
    Have a great day 🙂
    Naveen

  29. Hi Vinay sir,
An excellent post here. Sorry I was late because I was writing my post and I forgot to check this out. 🙂

I think stress in our life means our life is moving and not stale. However sometimes stress is too tiring. May it be a deadline to complete a client’s work or may it be anyother thing.

Thanks for these suggestions. I think staying in the morning sun can surely help someone get positive vibes. When I have stress I either talk to someone fun or take a shower (seriously!) or sleep.

I am glad these three are normal steps (I thought taking shower was insane) for relieving stress as you have mentioned in the post. Sleep properly, relaxation techniques and sharing to someone are those three that I do.

I have to try your other three tips which are so powerful. Thinking positively can do a LOT more too. I am going to try this because I most of the time don’t think positively and worry about things that will never happen.
Exercise is something I have to try too

Thanks for this super inspiring and awesome post to keep us healthy 🙂

  30. Another great post Vinay! My personal favorites are those you discuss in Step 2: Think positive and be realistic. It’s so easy to be negative and only complain about the injustices of the world; however, that behaviour does nothing except propagate more frustration. The power of positivity is my key to accomplishing great things in both my personal and professional life. And when I do a great job with these 2 characteristics, I’m stress-free.

Thanks for sharing and have a great rest of the week!

  31. Great post and useful suggestions, Vinay.
Resting is one of the keys of avoiding stress.
As you mentioned, thinking positive is an attitude that will help you not just relieving stress, but also winning in life.

Thanks for the share, have a great rest of this week!

  32. HI Vinay Sir
Thanks for providing a stress-free guide. I really love your transition from stress to STRESS. Instead of focusing on the negative side of the word, we must look at its brighter side. For example the term suicide looks negative and dull, but like you, I have tried to bring out its positive side- ‘SUE’ all the dullness of your life and embrace the positive ‘SIDE’.

I completely agree with your first point. We need to and stop and analyze things to understand the reason behind because we are the problem and we are the solution only.

These day, I am trying to have a closer look at my worries by thinking in a positive and realistic manner. You are right that we must not make any assumptions and complicate our simple life

I do believe in the power of meditation. I request everyone to incorporate this wonderful gift in your life. It adds a wonderful meaning to everything. Though I am new to this art, but I am loving it very much.

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful idea. Now, I can easily add STRESS in my life 😉

  33. Hi Vinay,

There was a time when this word – stress – was unknown to us but modernisation and advancement comes with a price…like you say, ‘the invisible demon’, not just one many more such demons, in various garbs, that we encounter every day!

Positive thoughts and relaxation – easier said than done! But they are the core elements of relieving stress. Introspection too helps a lot as it provides us with the much needed time with self-talk to sort out the reasons of stress and deal with them effectively. If we develop some resistance to stressful situations and reactions, they ease themselves with time or probably we get immune to them.

Stress cannot be eliminated from modern life styles but we have to find ways and means to handle it. This post offers wonderful solutions and I am glad you have compressed all the ways so well. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week.

  34. Great post, and love the STRESS formula…very true.

I also believe mindfulness to be a great reliever of stress, as it helps reduce the Amygdalas affect on your brain, and ultimately your body. Peripheral vision also helps relax and sooth you, and also helps reduce your thinking process, so you don’t get too negative.

I also agree that sleep will make pretty much all the difference. Too little, and your fighting an uphill battle to begin with.

    Thanks for a good article;-)

  35. Vinay,
You have done some great work and this article is great Sir.A few of things that offers helped me to offer with stress.
For simply one I make a good effort to live within as soon as well as not think about the actual past or future.
2 I exercise every 7 days which has helped in order to consider it out upon the weights or performing a lot of cardiovascular workouts.
Three I proceed for walks while hearing to good music. This particular one is my preferred. It’s a time with regard to me to regroup as well as get back into stability.
Thank you for spreading Vinay and I wish you have an excellent week!

  36. This is so helpful! Exercise and meditation are my favorite stress relievers. I’ve had some physical reactions to stress, so when that happens I have to lie down in a quiet space and rest.

You make a great point here Vinay, in that we have to learn to manage stress because life is full of triggers and times where we have to deal with some pretty bad things. Great post!

  37. Hi, Harleena and Vinay,

What a relevant article for today! Everyone can relate to this, oh my! Health issues are cropping up daily in people’s lives I would have never imagined it was due to high levels of stress.

Your acronym is awesome and oh so very helpful. Love the “be in the sunlight’ advice! 🙂 With our recent move at the first of the year to Tampa, Florida, this is definitely possible for me now. What a difference weather makes!

People that work too much (and are proud of it) need to remember why it is they’re working in the first place. Taking time to live a little and relax (or exercise) makes for a balanced life, so your tips are spot on, and I couldn’t agree more!

Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us. I’ll be sure to let others know too because this will help a lot of people.

    Have a good evening.
    ˜Carol

  38. hi vinay; i love how your stress approach treats the whole body’s response to stress. I love it. and i recently had an exchange with another blogger about getting unstuck. we both mentioned reading watching tv playing games other distractions to get you going. i remember telling him too often people read books they think are good for them like self help or personal development. when what they really need is a good mystery thriller or trashy romance novel something to let the body rest and the mind wander. which is why i balance my media books tv movies etc. thanks for this post my friend. you rock, max

  39. Hi Vinay,

When it comes to stress..it can cause so many problems not only with our thinking, but also has a strong effect on dis easements in the body.

My favorite here is #5. We need to get the necessary hours of sleep. We also need to be in the sunlight for our vitamin D. I am very concerned with this because once I did have a vitamin D deficiency. I was tired all the time and it was a big energy drain. I had to actually start taking mega amounts of vitamin D to get on track. Now I’m aware of how important it is.

Also eating well. Everything fresh, organic and home cooked is the way I like it. Although it can be difficult to get my hands on organic food, I won’t eat anything else. When this kind of diet is introduced to the body, one eats for energy and not to fill the belly. Nothing in a package or box and I never ever use the microwave.

Guess I resonate with this point the most because it has effected my lifestyle to a more healthy one in mind/body/spirit.

    -Donna

  40. Hello Vinay, Great Post,

Oh Yeh our lives are surrounded by stress, HUH? We can let it get to us or use your techniques you have shared with us and get a handle on it.

I think my biggest stress reliever is just having that positive attitude, if you think good things then good things are bound to happen (Vs The Opposite)

Thanks for sharing and do make it an awesome new week ahead.. Chery :))

  41. Great post!

For me, keeping my thoughts positive and upbeat relieves stress. I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching lately (It’s why I haven’t been on here that much.) and have have found that my thoughts and feelings are great indicators for stress.

To relieve any wonkiness I feel, I get quiet and breath deep. I listen to my body and feelings. I’ll journal and get everything out and reflect on how I was feeling and what I wrote. I also love to work out and be outside 5-7 days per week. Thankfully, it’s warming up in the Midwest. 🙂

    Blessings to all!

    1. Hi Amandah,

Thoughts can create stress as well as help us relieve it. If uncontrolled and negative, thoughts can go on and on in a loop and disturb our mind. But if you keep your thoughts positive and controlled, you can change how you feel and react.

Wow, you sure have a good system of dealing with stress, and you do it quite methodologically. That’s the way how it should be done and thanks for sharing with us all.

Yes, it’s been many days since you last visited here, and now I know the reason behind it. I’m sure the soul searching helped you in many ways. Thank for visiting and commenting on this post. Glad to know that the weather is getting better after the severe cold spell there. Have a great week ahead!

  42. Hi Vinay,

Your STRESS reliever formula looks awesome. I don’t feel stress often, but when I do, I always go for a long walk, usually inside a forrest. I might listen to a podcast or music, but most of the time I just listen to nature and the sounds that are surrounding me. It works great to focus my thoughts and think positive and be glad to be alive.

    1. Hi Jens,

It’s good to see you after a long time.

I’m happy that you liked the STRESS reliever formula. Walks are a great way to divert your mind and calm down. Mindful walking, where you use your senses to observe the surroundings is really refreshing, as I do that every morning.

“Glad to be alive” – that’s so true, and we ought to take every moment as a gift and “live” it – this leaves us no choice and time to be stressed! 🙂

Thanks for sharing your ways to deal with stress. Thanks for commenting.

  43. Hey Vinay,

Stress is a part of our daily lives and there’s no ignoring it.

There are a couple of things that has helped me to deal with stress.

For one I make an effort to live in the moment and not think about the past or future.

Two I exercise every week which has helped to take it out on the weights or doing a lot of cardiovascular exercises.

Three I go for walks while listening to good music. This one is my favorite. It’s a time for me to regroup and get back into balance.

Thanks for sharing Vinay and I hope you have a great week!

    1. Hi Sherman,

Living in the moment or mindfulness is one of the best ways to beat stress. Coupled with regular exercises, walks, and listening to music, I think you got yourself pretty much prepared to handle the stress in life.

But most important is that you accept that stress is a part of life and this acceptance keeps you prepared to take stress in your stride.

Thank you for sharing the ways you use to keep you immune from stress. I’m glad you commented and wish you a great week too!

  44. Hi Vinay,

These tips are really stress bursting ones!
especially the one: Rest and use relaxation techniques is one of the important thing to do to get some stress free time, I am sure most of the bloggers fail here as they are involved in blogging activities. 🙂
I think we need to have a time schedule to do all these in a timely and systematic way.

I am surprised to note the one mentioned in Step #5 i.e:
“If you are in a sexual relationship, then sex too can be a stress buster. Sexual activity releases hormones that not only make you feel relaxed but even induces deep sleep.”
This indeed a new knowledge to me LOL

Thanks for sharing these valuable steps for our good.

In fact these are the need of the hour in this stressful world!

If one follow diligently i am sure one can be more free and a relaxed person. 🙂
Thanks Vinay for sharing these wonderful and timely piece to your readerd.
    Keep sharing and caring
    Have a great week ahead
    Best

    1. Hi Phil,

I’m glad you like the post as well as the stress reliever tips in it.

You can even practice some relaxation tips while sitting in your chair or walking around. The Wikipedia article linked to relaxation techniques mentions about a dozen techniques, out of which at least half can be performed while easily by bloggers. Do read about them.

I’ve linked the matter where I’ve mentioned about sex acting as a stress buster to an authority article that might further help you gain information and understanding. In short, during sexual activity hormones like endorphin and oxytocin are produced that act as stress and pain relievers. Also, the stress hormone, cortisol levels are reduced.

I hope you make good use of the tips mentioned in the post. Thanks for visiting and commenting on this post. You too have a great rest of the week.
