Missinglettr Review & Guide: Creating Social Marketing Automation For Blogs

Creating content, publishing, and then marketing the blog posts – this is the ritual that all bloggers follow, if not on a daily basis, almost once or twice in a week.

How about if you can automate at least one aspect of your blogging tasks; social marketing-aka-blog post promotion on social media?

So, like when you publish a post, its social content automatically gets published on the social media, say Twitter.

No big deal, you’d say because there are already dozens of social marketing automation applications that help you do that.

Okay, what if your blog post gets promoted periodically throughout the year, on its own.

Ah, that’s something! (Did you say that just now? 🙂 )

And wouldn’t it be nice if all the pieces of the promoted social content were unique? (Wow!)

This is what missinglettr is all about. And there’s more…

Missinglettr automatically creates unique social marketing campaigns for your posts, spread out over a year, minutes after it is published.

Yes, they are automated.

This is how you leverage automation and apply it to your blog social marketing.

Interested to know more? Okay, so here we go and take a critical tour of missinglettr. (I’m going to analyze and scrutinize it for you and make it easy for you to understand and use missinglettr.)

And don’t forget to check out the bonus I’ve for you at the bottom of the post. 🙂 (Get 6 months for the price of 1)

Critical Review of Missinglettr – Social Marketing Automation Application

First off, why is this application called missinglettr? What is it missing!?

Well, it’s not missing anything but only providing you with the missing piece of your social marketing puzzle. 🙂

Indeed, it solves much of your daily problems. If not completely relieve you of the social promotion duties (because that’s pretty complicated and there’s no end to it), it certainly takes some load off your shoulder (and brain too!)

Working Principle of Missinglettr

Missinglettr has a simple way of working that further simplifies your social marketing or promotion. The entire process is automatic – the only manual component is your approval of the campaign.

Missinglettr lets you promote up to 9 unique social contents about your blog post for a period of 12 months.

Note: This would change soon as you’d be able to promote for up to 36 months in advance.

You can create automated social marketing campaigns of the blog posts that are published after you started using missinglettr and even for those which were published earlier – in short, you can create automatic social campaigns for all of your blog posts.

The present social media channels that you can use are Twitter and LinkedIn (only Twitter for the free users) and more social media option like Facebook, Google+, and Pinterest will be added soon.

Hint: Promote each of your blog posts by approving the campaigns on a different day. This way, a different blog post is automatically promoted on every new day in the future.

The Missingletter Campaign Schedule

As told before, missinglettr automatically creates 9 pieces of social content to be promoted in 12 months. Here is the present schedule for the promotion of all the social contents of your campaigns.

[Day 0 is the day when you approved the article campaign, irrespective of the post publishing date.]

First social content rolls on: Day 0

Second social content rolls on: Day 3

Third social content rolls on: Day 7

Fourth social content rolls on: Day 14

Fifth social content rolls on: Day 30

Sixth social content rolls on: Day 90

Seventh social content rolls on: Day 180

Eighth social content rolls on: Day 270

Ninth social content rolls on: Day 365

Though this schedule looks good, a new feature will be soon added to missinglettr in which you can change the social content rolling out days/dates for those who need flexibility.

3 Steps To Approve a Missinglettr Campaign

The missinglettr social approval process is simple:

1) Review hashtag suggestions

2) Review content suggestions

3) Click “Approve” and enjoy a year’s worth of marketing. 🙂

Pretty simple, Uh? Okay, let’s get into the details.

Setting Up Missinglettr and an Automated Social Media Marketing Campaign

First things first. Now that you have an idea of what missinglettr is all about and how it works let me get you started from the very start – that is setting up of your missinglettr account and creating a social marketing campaign.

1. Create and Set Up a Missinglettr Account

Go to the missinglettr website – https://missinglettr.com/ (if you want a free bonus, use the link at the bottom of the post to register).

Go ahead and read everything on the landing page, else just click on the “Pricing & Signup” button.

You’ve got 4 plans there – Free, Personal, Business, and Agency.

I’m using the Agency plan for review purpose. But if you’re a personal blogger, the Personal plan would suffice. However, if you’ve got more than 2 blogs and/or more than 4 social profiles, then you’d want to go for the Business plan.

Hint: Two Twitter accounts are counted as 2 social profiles

Choose your plan and click on the “Start a free trial” button.

Signup using your name and email address. Click on the confirmation email and add up your blog (your missinglettr campaigns cannot work until it is linked to your blog).

Remember: You do not have to install any extra WordPress plugin on your site. In fact, missinglettr can be used for all sites using any CMS. The only precondition is that the site has an RSS feed.

You also need to add at least one social media account to start with.

Whoa! That’s all, and now you’re set to approve and start your automated social media marketing campaigns. 🙂

Note: You must have at least one published blog post or wait for your first blog post to be published.

You’ll also receive emails from Benjamin Dell, the founder & CEO of Missinglettr. He’s your friend, philosopher, and guide on missinglettr – a very helpful guy. Face any problems? You can contact him directly.

Now, if you have a published post, missinglettr would detect it, create and send you its social marketing campaign by email. All you need to do is click on the “Review Campaign” button in the email and review the campaign. Cool!

2. Create a Drip Social Marketing Campaign

All social marketing campaigns need to be reviewed and approved before they are activated.

Missingletter uses a technology that cleverly processes the natural language in your blog post and creates a unique social marketing campaign.

The automatically created content is natural, non-spammy, and mostly relevant to your campaign. (Honestly, sometimes it is not, and that’s where your review and approval is required)

{Something to cheer about because it shows you’re still ahead of the level of understanding of computer programs! :)}

Missinglettr creates automated custom drip marketing campaign content that consists of content titles, images, and hashtags to share on social media.

Depending upon the length of your post, about 5-8 hashtags, 40-80 content suggestions, 40-80 image suggestions are created.

These are all extracted or taken from your blog post content. The missinglettr image shows a sentence of your blog post content in a callout box. Something like you see below:

Now, you need to review the hashtags, content suggestions, and the image suggestions.

Hashtags

You can edit, remove, or add hashtags as required. If you do not remember the tags you’ve used in the post or the ones that best suit your post for promotion, just open your post and list the tags.

Reminder: You’ve to do this exercise after your blog post is published on your blog.

I’d suggest that you limit the number of hashtags to not more than five as more hashtags than that might look spammy. The number of hashtags in a social content would depend on whatever space is left after the inclusion of the content suggestion. If the content suggestion is too long, it will be cut short to include at least one hashtag in the social content.

Content Suggestions

While reviewing the content suggestions, you’ve two options:

1) Change – Hover your mouse over the content and a “refresh” icon will appear with the caption text “Load another suggested social content”. Click on the icon and a new suggestion will appear. You can repeat the process for all the content suggestions and choose the one you like.

2) Edit – Click the “Edit” button at the bottom of the social content, next to the “Remove image” button. The content suggestion box becomes editable, and now you can add any text, link, or hashtag. After you’re done, click “Save”.

Image Suggestions

When you review the image suggestions, you again have two options:

1) Change – Hover your mouse pointer over the image and you’ll see the refresh icon. Click on it to change the image. You’ll now see a different quote or sentence. You can repeat the refresh process till you settle on the image of your choice.

2) Remove – Unlike the content suggestions, the images cannot be edited. But they can be removed if you do not wish the social content to be accompanied with an image. Don’t worry, if you wish to have an image again, just click on the “Add image suggestion” button.

There is also a “Delete Slot” red button. Be careful about it. Suppose, if you’re working on the “Day 7” social content and you delete this slot, then there will be no social content promotion of this blog post on the 7th day after the campaign is approved. Presently, the deleted slot cannot be retrieved, or this action cannot be undone.

When you’re done reviewing the hashtags, content suggestion, and the image suggestion, and you feel satisfied with the social content, click the green “Approve” button.

When you approve the social content, a tick mark in a green circle will appear. It means you need to move on to review and approve the next social content.

Note: If you come across any terms/words/phrases that you’d never want in your present and future missinglettr automated social media marketing campaigns, click on the “Setup” button under “blacklist phrases being ignored” (or directly go to Settings>Blacklist items). The content specified here will never be included in any future missinglettr campaigns.

Note: Once you’ve approved a social content, you can also unapprove it.

After you’ve approved all the social content, click on “Approve Campaign”. Your drip social marketing campaign for this blog post will start rolling, and you’ll have the first (Day 0) message sent already!

Note: Once the entire campaign has been approved, it can only be changed or edited after you “Stop” the campaign from the main “Article Campaigns” page.

You can now see the article status as “Campaign active” and also a green progress bar that will keep increasing as the social contents are promoted on their defined days.

Other Missinglettr Features

There are more missinglettr features that are included in some or the other plans.

Scheduled Content

You can keep track of your all approved missinglettr drip social marketing campaigns – all the tweets and social content that are due to be sent for all the blog posts of the selected blog.

You have the choice to view them altogether or filter them by each individual campaign.

Soon you’ll be able to customize the drip marketing schedule – have an intense 14-day campaign or spread it over a period as long as 3 years!

Social Profiles

Each scheduled content created for your blog will be sent to the social profiles that are added in your missinglettr account.

With the Free plan, you can just have one social profile, on the Personal plan, you can have 4 social profiles, 10 social profiles on the Business plan, and 40 social profiles for the Agency plan.

Branding

All social content that are promoted in a drip social marketing campaign under a Free plan and Personal plan will have the missinglettr branding. If you wish to display your own blog name and logo, then you need to opt for the Business plan or Agency plan.

Campaigns for Past Articles

Click on the “Create new campaign” button and simply enter the URL for the past post in the box, and click next. Missinglettr will create a campaign for this post as it does for your new posts. Of course, you’d need to review and approve it before it starts getting promoted.

Summing Up

Missinglettr is one intelligent automated social media marketing campaign creator that sends out a pre-baked social marketing campaign for 12 months within minutes of publishing a new post. This is its USP and what sets it apart from other services.

Note: Though the campaign is prepared and sent to you within minutes of the publishing of a new post, it will not be promoted until it is approved by you.

Missinglettr campaigns are highly customizable, and soon the campaign schedule too would be made flexible. All you need to do is review, approve, and forget it – the rest happens on its own.

Here’s my assessment of missinglettr:
