When you read the newspapers in the morning or see the news on TV at night, the information you get is mostly about hatred, violence, and war. In such times, what does the world need? Mahatma Gandhi and the American Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr. have shown the world that the world needs love and peace. Know more about this truth. ~ Ed.

What do you think the world needs today? Witnessing the state of the world, I don’t think that should be difficult.

I can think of these things, and they are acceptance and tolerance.

What the world needs now is love and peace, not only for you and me, but for everyone.

Does this line remind you of a song? Yes, I have got it for you at the end of the post.

But today, I also want pay a tribute to certain people in the world, who truly believed in love and peace, but ended up as the victims of the opponents of love and peace.

These people were dreamers and visionaries, and that’s what the world needs today.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

The World Needs Dreamers

Today, January 19th, is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day in America, the official birth anniversary of the American Gandhi, the American civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr.

Everybody knows that he had a dream for love and peace in the world. We all have heard his famous speech, “I have a dream”.

This speech was recognized as one of the top American speeches of the century. Not to mention, that it moved and touched people’s emotions and hearts all over the world too.

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

That speech still holds relevance today – not only for the Americans, but also for the people of the world.

In his speech that he gave on 28th August 1963, MLK talks about discrimination, poverty, freedom, justice, and democracy.

The world needs these now, more than before.

Dr. King was right when he said that “Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning.” Indeed the dream he talks of still needs to be lived.

It’s not an American dream anymore; you need to translate that in global terms.

We need equality in the world. We need to get rid of poverty. And, we still need freedom and justice in many parts of the world.

People are still being judged by the color of their skin. In this modern hi-tech age, can you believe that racism still exists?

MLK’s dream is what the world needs now, we need to have faith in love and peace, and transform the world into heaven on Earth.

Together we can work to cultivate understanding, show compassion, be kind to each other, and brew the love of mankind.

We will be free when we are free from the dogmas and irrationality in our mind.

Yes, this is a fact that if we want to cure the world, we all need to control and train our minds in the right way.

Here is an infographic full of inspiring and motivational quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sadly, this dreamer and light of the world was put to an end and assassinated on April 4th, 1968, at the tender age of 39.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

The World Needs Believers Of Non-Violence

There was another crusader of peace on the other side of the planet, before Martin Luther King, Jr. He was Mahatma Gandhi.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi started his silent and peaceful movement for freedom and justice, at about the age MLK died.

He continued his struggle for almost the same amount of period MLK lived. He was a source of inspiration and teaching for MLK.

Mahatma Gandhi was an ardent campaigner of non-violence and peace. He taught nonviolent resistance to the world, and that is what the world needs now.

Gandhi believed that “Truth is God”. The truth is that we are all equals. We all need love and should give love. We should have and shower compassion and kindness to one and all.

Sadly, this light of the world too was extinguished and assassinated on 30th January, 1948. Mahatma Gandhi was 79 then.

The world needs more of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.

We need to carry their light in our torches and uphold the values of freedom and justice in non-violent and peaceful ways.

What The World Needs Now Is Non-Violence

We are witness to the violent happenings around the world in present times.

There have been terrorist attacks the world over – in the United States, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, and recently in France, and also in other parts of the world.

Hundreds and thousands of innocent people are killed, for no fault of theirs. They are killed in the name of racism, revenge, and religion.

This is the time when the world needs to look up to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi to shed violence and make a place in the heart of people through non-violent ways.

“We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

What the world needs now is love. Oh yes, love is the solution to all problems and the cure of the world.

Love heals and cures all. Violence can never achieve in years, what love can do in minutes.

Here’s is the lovely song that I had mentioned at the start of this post. Listen and view the video to know what does the world needs now.

What the World Needs Now Is Love” is a 1965 popular song with lyrics by Hal David and music composed by Burt Bacharach.

I hope this song inspires and motivates you too to employ love in your actions, words, works, and thoughts.

What the world needs today is freedom from discrimination, poverty, non-justice, and violence.

The world needs justice, nonviolent resistance and demonstrations, love, and peace.

Let’s be kind and not kill. Let’s love, not hate.

“Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man’s sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
