So, let me start this post by wishing every Mother a very Happy Mother’s Day.

What Do Moms Love

Mothers love anything that their child does with love, for them. It needn’t be just buying the most expensive of things – small things matter.

I lost my mom to cancer a few years back and miss her, more so on this day. But I love it when my kid’s shower their love, and of course when my Dads calls up to tell me I’ve been such a good mom.

What moms love (including me), is a BREAK – relief from the daily chores, a day without cooking, and a day to do what she wants.

But what can you buy the woman who’s looked after you and knows you inside out? Surveys indicated that moms wanted to rest and relax more than receive any gifts.

However, if you are thinking of pampering her, here are a few gift ideas for your mom –

Best Gift Ideas Moms Love

As I mentioned earlier, your mom isn’t looking for rich or expensive gifts from you. But I am sure she would love to be pampered a little, especially on Mother’s Day, which is her day.

Instead of the usual mother’s day gift you see online, think of some unique gift ideas that your mother would love.

For example, moms love it when their kids do something on their own for them, so do that! Perhaps some craft work or get creative making cards, posters, or anything on your own.

You might like to read a little story I’d written for Mother’s Day last year – Why Is A Mother Child Bond So Special.

Here is more – this list is endless as you can keep adding more gifts for moms into this one. However, let me share all that I could think of with you –

Make your mom a special card. Instead of buying your mom a greeting card, making one yourself would add a personal touch to it.

Record your own Mother’s Day Special video for her. Or perhaps compile her favorite songs on a CD, or download them to gift her.

Make a scrapbook, something that mothers love as it takes them down memory lane. Gather all the photos you can and compile them in a scrapbook, which all of you would love to go through.

Build a family tree because moms love family, and anything you do related to the family would be appreciated by her. You could add names, dates, and even pictures to make it unique.

Work in her place – like doing the work your mom usually does outdoors or in the garden, at least for Mother’s day!

Cook for her – the best mother’s day gift you can give her! I wish I get this gift from my kids 🙂 And if you are too young to do so, help her in the kitchen or cook together.

Better still – get your dad to take over the kitchen and give your mom a break – moms love that!!

• If you can’t do that, take your mom out for brunch and make it a special place that she loves. Or surprise her by taking her to a place you know she would love.

Make a collage or get creative with old pictures of your mom. Take a picture of your mom, showing her past and present side by side and frame it – a perfect gift for mom.

• Try putting up family pictures artistically on the wall. Mothers love seeing all the pictures of her family, children, grandchildren, parents, and extended family.

Bring your mother some flowers – any woman loves them. You can brighten her day by gifting her bouquet of fresh flowers from your garden or buy it to gift it to her.

Spend quality time with her – mother’s love that! Take her out for a meal, a drive, a movie, or any of her favorite places. Or think of doing some activity at home together. Make memories special today.

• You could do her chores like washing her car, laundry, cleaning, bring in hired help, let her sleep long, and just give her a complete day off! I’m sure husbands and fathers can take over for one day!

Well, these may not be the best gift ideas moms love because each mom is different, but they are the general ones all mothers would love I’m sure.

Add more to this list and let me know in the comments below.

I have a lovely infographic from Ptpa that I wanted to share with you today, based on a survey showing the best and worst gifts for Mother’s Day. I loved it, and so would you – take a look.

Did you like it? I was nodding right through when I saw it the first time as it related to most mothers – am I right?

Now let’s talk of the worst gifts ideas for mother’s day, something you should stay away from. Of course, the final choice is in your hand, but why gift things she may not like.

Worst Gift Ideas For Mother’s Day

These may not be really the worst gifts, but generally, moms would not like to receive these as gifts – at least I wouldn’t! (Hint! Hint!)

– Cleaning products and lotions – not on this special day!

– Don’t get her what she needs, but get her what she wants.

– Weight loss books or videos! Don’t remind her at least on this day 🙂

– Wrong size clothing, shoes, or other such accessories that she’s got or doesn’t fit well.

– Anything that requires your mom to get up early and work on Mother’s Day.

– Ticket to a movie or sporting event that she doesn’t like, nor have any interest in.

– Things for Father’s Day or what husbands brought for themselves and are passed down.

– Avoid gifts for moms that are more work for her than anyone else.

– Gifting her cash! You know she wouldn’t spend it on herself, so why gift her pure cash.

– Not remembering it’s Mother’s Day! She would hate that – so mark your calendar today itself!

– Making excuses of not remembering it is Mother’s Day, or buying gifts for her, or making it a special day by doing all the things moms love.

– ALL the worst gift ideas for moms as mentioned in the infographic – take a look!

Attention – husbands and fathers! This infographic is also for you, a reminder about all that your wife and mother of your children likes and dislikes – so get going.
