Do you have a Blog?

Yes? That’s great! So you must be working hard to rank it on the top of search engines.

But for this, you’ll have to increase the Domain Authority of your website.

Domain Authority (DA) is a rating system started by the Moz company.

Whenever you check your blog’s domain authority, it performs approx 40 tests on your domain and then gives your domain rankings, and these 40 tests include SEO, Domain Age, Social Activeness, Popularity, etc.

The best way to check your website’s domain authority (DA) is to use the Moz Open Site Explorer tool.

The higher your DA, the higher is your chance to get ranked on search engines.

A domain having DA more than 50 is excellent but if you are a newbie blogger and have a DA more than 30, it’s still awesome. So don’t panic – just continue your good work.

Now let’s see how you can improve your blog’s domain authority quickly.

Best Ways to Increase Blog Domain Authority (DA) Score

To increase domain authority of your blog, just follow these tips:

Link building is the best way to boost the domain authority of your blog.

Don’t create just backlinks – create quality backlinks because only quality backlinks will help your domain to rank high on search engines.

Once you have started building quality backlinks, DA of your blog will increase automatically.

The best way I use to grab some quality backlinks is by doing guest posts. I know that’s a long shot to take, however, with this you can get not only some quality backlinks, but also make new relationships with other bloggers.

Another way I prefer to get high-quality backlinks is with Infographics. I create infographics for my site and then I just email people, who have already written about my topic and let them know about my infographic.

And if they like my infographic, then they share it on their site with a link pointing to my site. Sometimes I also write mini guest posts for other sites with my infographic to get backlinks.

These are easy ways to get some quality backlinks. You should try these ideas if you have not tried these till now.

2. Internal Linking

Internal linking is also as much important as external linking or backlinks. Most newbie bloggers ignore internal linking, and this is their worst mistake.

Whenever you write a new post, don’t forget to link your old posts in it. This is known as internal linking.

Don’t forget to edit your old posts and add a link to your new post in it.

And yeah, one another mistake made by bloggers is that they don’t link to other websites in their post. Linking to some awesome articles on your post is helpful for your site and other’s site also.

Internal linking joins all your pages and linking to others sites creates some trust in Google’s eyes and help increase domain authority of your site.

3. SEO

Write SEO friendly posts and make sure to upload high-quality images. Your images also should be SEO friendly. Don’t forget to add alt text and image name for all the pictures.

You’ll have to make your website SEO friendly and to do so you will have to use title tag, Meta description, and site’s description.

Make sure to do proper keyword research before writing any post and spread these keywords all over the post but don’t overload your content with keywords. If you do that, it will decrease your SEO score.

4. Publish Post Consistently

Publishing an impressive 3000-word guide is not enough to boost your site’s SEO. It is necessary to publish posts uniformly.

Like for example, if I’m posting a post today and then I publish my post after two days and then after one month, it might not help my blog’s SEO as much as if I publish my post on any fixed days. Then surely it will boost my site’s SEO, and that means the Domain Authority (DA) will increase as well.

5. Speed Up Your Website

Domain authority of your site also depends on the loading speed of your site – increase domain authority by making your site fast.

If your site is taking too much time to load, then you have to improve the loading speed of your website.

If you have a WordPress site, then you can simply use these cache plugins – w3 total cache, WP super cache, or any other caching plugin.

You just have to install one of these caching plugins on your site and then activate it. They will automatically boost your WordPress site speed.

Otherwise, you can use Cloudflare to speed up your website. Just go to CloudFlare and put your site through it.

Get your blog load faster just in a few hours > Click to know

6. Be Active on Social Media

You will have to be active on all of your social media accounts. Share all your posts on social media and keep it active by sharing the posts of others as well.

Join active groups related to your niche and then share your posts on those groups.

There are lots of groups available on social media like Facebook. You should search for your niche groups like I blog about blogging so I join the blogging groups. Then, you should share your all posts on these groups.

These groups are gold mines for bloggers because they have excellent people in them who are also working on the same niche, so there is higher probability that people will come to your blog to check your shared post.

We all love to create backlinks for our site, but it’s harmful to our site to have bad links.

We create real active backlinks, but there is a probability that your links are not active now. The site linking to you may be not active now or it may be that your link has broken.

So you should check all your links again and again and make sure to delete the bad links.

There are lots of ways to remove bad backlinks – you can directly message the website’s owner or if the owner is not responding, then you should use the Google disavow tool. This tool is especially for deleting your bad links.

8. Make Sure your Site is Mobile Friendly

Your site should be mobile friendly. If your site is not responsive, then it will affect your domain authority. Out of those 40 tests which Moz does while checking your blog’s DA, it also tests if your site is mobile friendly or not.

If your site is not responsive then don’t panic, you can make your site responsive quickly. You will have to do some coding in your template. Just search on Google, and you can get the code, just copy and paste these codes into your site.

Make your blog mobile-friendly > Click to know

9. Patience is Key to Success

You will have to keep patience because Domain authority also depends on your domain age.

If your domain is new, then it needs much hard work and time to improve domain authority.

This is the only reason why most newbies leave blogging because they don’t have patience at all. They start blogging because they think that blogging is the fastest and easiest way to earn some decent bucks but after some months they realize that they were wrong.

So I suggest you keep doing your hard work and wait, it will pay you.

Text links or links with keywords are excellent way to increase domain authority of your blog but only making text links might look spammy.

So, try to make a balance between all your different types of links like text links, do-follow links, no-follow links, image links, etc.

Wrapping It Up

So having a blog is a good start but blogging to help someone out there creates the best experience.

You need to work hard to improve your blog’s domain authority and it takes time. The ten points I have discussed above are the best working ways to improve your domain authority quickly.

The best takeaway from all the pointers I think is to create quality backlinks. If you are creating some pretty excellent quality backlinks, then your domain authority will increase sharply.

Over to you –

    Thank you

  4. Yes, I totally agree with your opinion. Excellent points you have mentioned now I can know how I can increase my Blog’s DA. You are unquestionably right. Domain Authority is an overall website’s SEO score. Many webmaster SEO people do more wrong than good to their domain by spending for cheap links on Tumblr and other freelance sites.

In short, CONTENT IS KING, and then I would like to add an extension to that; TRAFFIC means royalty for the king. Smart SEO people and developers create a new site, produced high quality of content and distribute it into social medias, and after one week, their content went viral really fast, their sites have ranked up to #1 Google for Long Tail Keyword. Moreover, I think that having high-quality backlinks is the most important factor that makes a great impact on DA. Of course, there are loads of other factors that affect SEO; however, HQ backlinks are absolutely essential for a good DA level.

Anyways, thank you very much! I find this post to be very useful!

  5. This is really a great blog, in which you told everything by which anyone who has a little bit idea about SEO can make their site or a web page more visible and can get more traffic. All the factors are good and can be implemented point to point. Thanks for sharing such a useful information.

  6. Great Blog! I strongly agree that DA is the most important factor to get websites ranking up. Best Ways to Increase Blog Domain Authority (DA) Score list all the important points for a webmaster to udertake to influence a websites DA ranking.

  7. Hey Hemant,

Thanks for writing this post, but I have few questions in my mind, recently while talking to some of my website’s potential buyers, found out that Domain authority is one factor that can fetch me some extra money, but I am confused on how can I quickly increase it, whether I should work on it or let it be?

Also While researching about DA, I have found out another metric called MajesticSEO Trustflow, is it also worth following & working?

Looking forward to a quick response.

  8. If you guys want to rank your blog and to increase your domain authority, you guys must focus on link building. Link build plays an important role to increase your domain authority and link building also help your blog to pull more traffic to your blog.

  9. Great. This is something I was looking from a long time. Iam struggling with increasing domain authority of my website. Reading this article realized me what mistakes I was doing.

  10. If you see Domain Authority (DA) in google’s eyes then there are a lot of factors that can affect a site DA. It works differently for every niche. However, if we take a common factor then you can increase any site DA by keeping the site up to date with proper keywords researching. Google loves updated sites and send traffic or rank those sites easily on first page which has higher organic keywords. Not making backlinks works everytime for your site DA. If you have a newbie site then make some backlinks along with site updation with keywords but when it will besome older then you don’t need to work more on off-site to get high DA. As i already said this concept doesn’t applied on every site niche. BUt sure if we follow this above post steps then it will increase any site DA easily. just keep patience

  11. The best way to increase your domain authority is by consistently publishing well-written content that answers questions, addresses concerns, and provides unique information.

Promote your articles on social media, guest post on high authority websites and mention others in your field who have bigger networks and higher ranked websites.

  12. Hey Hemant,

No one can argue on any of the points you have mentioned in this article. You have stated almost all striking points to increase domain authority.

If anyone asks me for the top 3 tasks to increase domain authority. I would recommend “Link building, Internat linking, and SEO”.

Internal linking inside your posts are considered as one of the most important factors to long-tail keywords optimization and this is one great way to rank on search engine. Interlinking can also be recommended for low bounce rate too.

So doing it is a WIN WIN opportunity.

Thanks again for presenting us this great content.

  13. Hello,

Domain Authority is the key to measuring how effective your website in the eye of Google. If you have High DA PA then your website rank high in SERP also It will increase your Indexing.

Some factors I know but some are new to me Thanks for giving this amazing info.

    Keep sharing new post

    Best Wishes

  14. Hi Hemant,

Internal linking is very important. Yet, I still see it neglected by a lot of bloggers.

Internal linking makes a powerful network within your site which benefits not only the user, but also google while crawling and indexing your site. A website lacking internal linking is weak and not connected. A site with powerful internal linking however, becomes interconnected and unbreakable.

The great thing about having more content is that you’ll have more content to link to. And the more you link internally, the greater your ability to create a dense and powerful site network will be.

Thank you for the great tips! 🙂

  15. Hey, Thanks for the easy ways. I recently got some high quality links from higher domain websites but can’t see any improvement in DA, Should i wait for 2-3 months ?

Those links are crawled and from websites having DA more than of 50.

  16. From my point of view, the only way to establish domain authority is by performing outstanding SEO techniques and measure so as to have an overall enhancement in domain authority. This process really works for me.
Thanks for sharing this great beneficial info.

  17. Thanks for your this complete guideline. Awesome post on increasing domain authority. Quality link building will help a lot in getting higher Domain Authority. To be honest, when i started my blogging jounrey with only 6 month ago i don’t have any idea about PA, DA but i believe myself that i have to do.

    Thanks for sharing

  18. Hi Hemant

I have been thinking of ways to increase my DA so it is great to read your post and you have shared tips that are just awesome.

As you shared, it takes a lot of patience to increase DA and it is no reason why people quit blogging. I hope they can read your post as it is a gold nugget

    Thanks for sharing. Take Care

  19. I don’t understand this site Moz Open Site Explorer tool. I put my site in there and it ranked 1. That’s horrible according to your post. Is it because it’s only been less than a month since I’ve launched it? I don’t have any backlinks or guest posts yet. I’m trying to do as much promotion as I can so far. I’m very active on social media and I’m connecting with fellow bloggers.

    1. Hi Kasia,

I’m pretty new to this whole thing, but I’ll throw in my 2 cents. Having a Page Authority (PA) of 1 is pretty normal for a new page. Remember PA only applies to the specific page address you put in Moz. You might have other pages on your website with a higher PA because they’ve been around longer and gotten more traffic. All the advice in the article will be helpful for both DA and PA, and I think promoting specific articles on social media will help the PA for that article and possibly the DA in general, as long as its driving traffic to that particular page. Hope that helps.

  20. Hello, Hemant!

It really is the great metric to examine how good your domain is doing.

And I find DA/PA more important than Alexa, is that right?

For me, I am always wanting to write with the consistent schedule which (on and off) I am okay with that.

For the links, I play with blog commenting and actually transforms it to as the relationship building where it plays so well! 🙂

Guest posting is something I am starting with now.

But I want to ask a question:

For internal linking, did you mean to add the links in the text or Related Posts type would also work?

Great effort you did, buddy! 🙂

    ~ Adeel

  21. Hi Hemant,

You’ve listed some decent SEO tips here to increase domain authority of any blog.

I think the most qualified tips to increase the SEO value of a blog domain authority is to consistently create valuable content and doing effective content marketing that regularly that result in getting high-quality links back to your individual web pages.

This is easier said than done. It takes lots of efforts, consistency, resources and marketing techniques to achieve the better result with it.

But with proper planning and execution, success is not far beyond.

    Thanks for sharing, Hemant.

  22. Hi Hemant,
Thanks for sharing such a valued information.
As said, since Google Page rank is dead DA can play an import role in ranking.
The tips shared here in this posts are really worth trying. May add companies are now looking into this aspects, they never care about even Alexa rank too.
A very timely piece to follow i am book marking it for my further application.
    Thanks again for sharing it

  23. Hey Hemant,

Thanks for sharing this detailed post.

Though I heard a lot about DA, but I never give much attention to DA. It seems that it’s the time to take DA seriously as Google Pagerank is dead. I think higher DA might help us to get direct advertising and sponsored posts as webmasters are considering DA as the best way to measure a popularity of a blog.
I am going to work on above tips to get higher DA. I really like the first one – extending the expiry of domain name. It does make sense.
    Keep it up!

  24. Thank you for this great post. I work for a nonprofit social enterprise that is disability-related, and we have a blog. I’m familiar with some of these techniques but not all of them. I hadn’t heard the term “domain authority” before but I understand what you mean by that now. In addition to helping out with our site, I have a personal journal but due to time constraints I haven’t been devoting as much time to it lately as I would like. But thanks again, and I will definitely check these out.

  25. Hemant
Very good article on how to build DA. We do so much content writing and sometimes forget the main aspects of blogging required to get listed on the search engines.
I do follow most of what you have mentioned and I think guest posts are the best way to improve our domain authority.

SEO is the best way to drive relevant traffic to our website. Even though Google has stopped the Domain Authority factor. It plays an important role in figuring what google thinks about us (based on the rank, Better you are better the rank).
SEO is a long term investment, Like the Warren Buffet way. The longer the investment stays the better the result is. Patience is one virtue every blogger needs.
Always keep in mind that we are not in an era of Boolean search, It’s a time when google gives importance to semantic search. Semantic search come with the potential of ranking articles based on user intent and the context at which a search is made.

    1. Hey Nishant,
Thanks for your comment and time.

And Yup really SEO is the best way to drive relevant content.
Thanks once again for your comment here.

  33. Hey Hemant,

Getting back links from the high authority websites is highly valuable in the eyes of search engines and all the websites from here shared high pr profile creation sites list are very important to get quality back links by just creation of profile only and mentioning our web URL in the website section.

There are hundreds of factors that Google uses to determine the search engine ranking of a website. One particular that has taken on great importance over the years is the domain authority of a website. Increasing our Domain Authority will increase the possibilities of our website ranking higher on Google and other search engines.

Sometimes, we may have seen that a website which has a low DA ranks lower than websites who have a high DA with much less engaging content. We need to write quality content in order to achieve a good DA score. Unique and approachable content gets value everywhere. If we want to write quality content, we need a great strategy. Most social media sites have a high Domain Authority. Eventually, thanks for reveling a light on this topic.
